Are there really no teams willing to give up more than Aumont and Gillies for Lee?

I'm actually not worried at all. Cliff Lee is not going to be a salary dump. If he is being traded, it's because we are getting substantial players in return. Otherwise, pure and simply, we'd trade Blanton. I mean, Blanton isn't a stud but he's a league average innings eater for $7M or so and he can be traded anywhere. I think among the 29 other teams, someone would be willing to trade us a A ball project in return for Blanton. Then you can go and trade Taylor/Drabek/d'Arnaud to Toronto cuz you have the salary room. That's it.

IMHO, if Drabek is going to Toronto, I think we keep Lee. Makes no sense otherwise. There's no reason to trade Lee unless we need to to get prospects that Toronto wants.

It's just absurd to think we are dumping Lee just for salary relief, unless Amaro is suffering from temporary insanity.

I think we were all impressed with the Lee trade. If this goes down the way it is being reported, he is dead to me

Drabek+D'anaurd for 1-yr Roy and an exclusive negotiating window is a fair deal.

Salisbury has a new article: Says it's Halladay + $6M from Jays, Drabek and either Taylor or D'Arnaud to Jays, Phillies get 2 or 3 prospects from Mariners, one of whom might go to Jays. If it's onlly one of Taylor or D'Arnaud, it's a little better...

I find it very hard to believe that he would all of a sudden trade one or both of them along with our playoff MVP, a promising catcher prospect, and whatever else for Halladay just because they're giving us an extension window. If it's that obvious that he's going to sign, take your chances with the whole thing and scrap the whole window thing.

The only thing that may have changed is Halladay saying he would sign with the Phils for a decent discount, though we don't have any real evidence of that.

Amaro and the Phillies can not screw this up. I still have faith that they will make the right decision.

Right. I'm just assuming they're set on getting some value for Lee.

If we're just dumping salary, trade Blanton, anything's better than nothing, and somebody would take Blanton at his price after looking at some of these free agent deals (like Brad Penny, for example).

i could care less what i've read up until now. i'm sure there will be names in there that people haven't even mentioned yet. rube won't let us down.
