My bizarre Roy Halladay obsession

Postby BIGPHILLY » Thu Jul 09, 2009 13:43:19

Just like Buster Olney (NY), Peter Gammons (Boston) and Jayson Stark (Philly) - Keith Law obviously has an agenda. His may be that he's just a miserable grump:

NFA: Let’s start with any easy question, why do you hate the Nationals … and America and all that is good in the world

Law: I hate all teams with equal fervor.

NFA: Seriously, how do you respond to the claims that you harbor a grudge against the Nationals and more specifically, Jim Bowden?

Law: When someone sees criticism and shouts “bias” or “hate,” it either reflects a lack of intelligence or an unwillingness to confront the reality that their favorite team may not have that bright of a future. I praise good moves and criticize bad moves. Jim Bowden has made a lot of bad moves, so he gets a lot of criticism.

I sort of think Weaver is closer to Hamels to a healthy Myers. I'm not sure how his fanbase perceives him, but he's been pretty successful. His career ERA is actually .01 lower than Hamels'.

Klaw, if Doc is to go the Phils who would the Jays demand? Would Drabek, Donald, Marson be enough?

Here we go! No, that's not enough. Not close for me.

Shawn (Philly)

It's been reported that the Phillies consider Kyle Drabek untouchable. If that's the case, is there any combination of prospects not including him that could entice the Jays to trade Halladay to the Phils?

Keith Law (1:04 PM)

Sticking with a theme - how stupid is that? Drabek isn't even good enough to be "untouchable" (great stuff, already blew out his elbow, fair delivery at best, makeup questions dating back to HS), but more to the point, you're talking about acquiring one of the top 5 starters in baseball - maybe the top starter in baseball - for a year and a half. You don't designate a AA pitcher as "untouchable" if you're serious about acquiring Doc.

I hate Keith Law more than I hate JC Romero

From the World Series Game 1 thread from last year, probably my best post ever here, but more to the point summing up how I feel about Keith Law the douchebag:

Stephen, San Diego: Answer me this, KLaw, why do you hate the Padres so much?

Keith Law: (2:18 PM ET ) Because they remind me of the Phillies.

Me: Tell me, Keith Law, why was your house burned down?

Keith Law: My house was burned down?

Me: VIVA THE PHANATIC, MOTHER-$#@!!

He must be nervous about pitching in his last game as a Blue Jay.

It's brilliance lies in its randomness.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Halladay does not want an extension at this point. Jody Mac is an idiot.

G, do you have any articles or anything to that effect? I've come up with nothing on other extension rumors

This just in: "Halladay is demanding that any team he is traded to offer him a shortened contract with a sizable paycut."

Thanks, Jodi.

jodi mac once said the eagles wont draft crabtree because he might try and make McNabb let him wear #5.

Stark said that Halladay is in no rush to sign an extension and would want to check out wherever he was traded to before considering it. He said any deal would come without an pre-approved extension.

In setting parameters for what Toronto would want in return from Philadelphia is the entire Reading club roster and exclusive use of the stadium for two years.

Makes total sense but he will get a hero's welcome to Philly (a la Jim Thome) so he'll wanna stay here forever.
