I think I would be alright with Blanton, Carrasco, Brown, and Donald for Halladay.

Except Weaver and Blanton are comparable only in the sense they are both white and pitch
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

I know. There's no real comp for Weaver. Maybe Myers when he was pitching.

I think the Angels deal is fugazi. They are not giving up Weaver with Lackey a shell of himself and a FA at the end of the year, with Santana basically cooked, and with Adenhart RIP. No way.

yeah that deal doesn't make sense from the Angels perspective. Weaver is pitching over his head, but he's younger, cheaper, and moving him for Halladay doesn't address any of their issues.

They seem to hate Wood, and their brilliant manager hates Kendrick, so those two guys are expendable. Walden and Reckling are both good prospects, but both still have a lot to prove.

Kendrick needs to hit about .320 to have any real value. I'm not sure I wouldn't rather have Donald.

2.64 ERA since May 26th. He's kinda like Weaver. Maybe Happ too. Obviously there are differences but pretty good youngish pitcher describes all three to a certain extent.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

The Angels deal is just someone throwing names out, it's not based on reality. Think about it - how often do these deals include 4 significant players/prospects? The majority have one (or two) significant prospects/major league ready players, with some middle of the road guys. I think what you'll see over the next few weeks is Ricciardi feeding garbage to the press, hoping to drive up the price. Hopefully Rube was reading Moneyball while Ed Wade was talking about trade strategy.

Happ, Donald and Drabek for Halladay - yea or nay?

Jim Callis (2:02 PM)

The Phillies would do that in a second but I don't see the Jays biting on that one. For me, Donald and Happ have ceilings as solid regulars, and the Jays are going to want more than one guy with a lot of upside for Halladay.

Logan (CA)

Do you think this deal gets Halladay for the Phils: Taylor, Drabek, Marson, and PTBNL

Jim Callis (2:05 PM)

That one also might work.

Why can't we just give up something like what the Yankees gave up for Abreu? That would be nice for once.
