81st place will be the first to crack 6 digits.

That is the drawback to the new payout scheme. More % players paid=slower escalation.

I think they're paying the same percentage, just distributing more of the money to the bottom of the scale.

Under 300 players left. Tobey Maguire lost most of his stack with KK vs. AA on a Q-high flop...he's got less than 3xBB left.

Tobey Maguire out. Sully Erna is the only notable celeb still in it. Petri Pollanen (twoplustwo guy) was recently knocked out by Gus Hansen, who is up to like 1.6 million.

last night after building my short stack to 2nd in chips with 6 left I get AK. It gets raised and I reraise all in. I get called by the chip leader with 6's and lose. (I even made my King on the turn but he hit a 4 card flush on the river!!)

Lee Watkinson leading with 14 million with 18 people left

blinds at 50,000/100,000 with 10,000 ante

the shortstack has about a million left, so there are is a lot of play left

Scotty Nyguen had a major meltdown- he was 3rd in chips with 17.5 million and went bust in under 47 minutes and took 11th place. Had he made the final table I wouldve done the pay per view, now with no one I recognize I think Ill wait until ESPN.

So the final table of the WSOP ME for 2007 is set and will begin tomorrow at 3 PM.

Here are the combatants:
Seat 1 - Jon Kalmar - 20.32 million
Seat 2 - Lee Childs - 13.24 million
Seat 3 - Philip Hilm - 22.07 million
Seat 4 - Jerry Yang - 8.45 million
Seat 5 - Raymond Rahme - 16.32 million
Seat 6 - Tuan Lam - 21.315 million
Seat 7 - Alex Kravchenko - 6.57 million
Seat 8 - Lee Watkinson - 9.925 million
Seat 9 - Hevad 'Rain' Khan - 9.205 million

And the payouts:
1st - $8,250,000
2nd - $4,840,981
3rd - $3,048,025
4th - $1,852,721
5th - $1,255,069
6th - $956,243
7th - $705,229
8th - $585,934
9th - $525,934

Watkinson is the only pro, he's actually part of the Full Tilt Pro team. Haved 'Rain' Khan is a big internet player who has been known to play ~30 tables at one time. Phillip Hilm is a high-stakes NL cash player online and has done well at some EPT events. Tuan Lam is a big Limit cash player on Stars. Kalmar is apparently a solid Euro player.

Don't know much about the others.

It is nice to see some generally even stacks unlike last year where Gold had a ridiculous CL coming into the FT. Here, you've got a nice distribution with 3 players roughly tied at 20m, 2 guys in the teens, and then the others between 6.5m and 9m.

Blinds are 100k/200k so these are still very deep stacks. The shortest stack with 6.5m chips has about 32xBB. But with big antes in play, his M is only 11.

Ive played at tables with people like that- you wait forever for them to make simple preflop decisions.

Dunno. There's a handful of guys who do it regularly. Multiple monitoring, macro scripting so you can do everything off 1 keyboard, macro scripting to make windows pop to the front when you have a decision to make, etc.

Lots of people do sets of 8-10 tables at once.

The most I've ever done is 5-table and I thought that was pretty insane, especially when I got ITM into 3 of the 5 and was playing HU on 2-tables and 3-handed on another table at the same time.

Interesting hand discussion in this week's Card Player column by Todd Brunson-

Day 2 of PL Omaha (rebuys- which are over)

Brunson has 55K
2 Opponents have 60K each. Blinds are 1/2. Pot was limped with 3 players, Todd was CU, other 2 players were the button and BB.

Brunson's hand:

A:d: J:d: 9:s: 9:c:

Flop:

K:s: Q:s: 10:h:

BB checks

Todd Bets 5K

The Button calls

and then the BB check raises to 25K.

Todd then folds!!!

Do you agree or disagree with folding the nuts here? I'll give Todd's reasons after a discussion.
