Feats of Strength

It's perhaps a bit surprising that this sort of thing doesn't happen more often, but still -- the player at Table 24, Seat 3 moved all in with {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and was called by Jimmy Blevins holding {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}. The {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop gave both players a pair, but on the turn Blevins hit the {K-Hearts} to make trips.

At which point the player facing elimination slammed his fist down on the table so hard that it made the chips on the table jump. And then, when the {10-Spades} hit the river and he knew he'd been eliminated, he LIFTED THE ENTIRE TABLE UP OFF THE GROUND and sent the chips and cards scattering all over the place.

The players were able to protect their chips to keep them from spilling into a great messy pile, and the player who lost the hand was quickly removed from the table. The security cameras caught the whole episode, and from what we've heard he's going to be paid out, and then escorted from the building. We're not mentioning his name because we want to make 300 percent sure we have the right name (the players at his table weren't sure) and we don't want to libel the innocent.

ESPN better freaking show this

He didn't think he was busting Farha. He went all in first, he figured Sammy would fold. Once he called he had to think, eff me.

I never heard about that, but that might be the worst beat ever.

So it's Day 4 of the ME today.

337 players remain and they will play about 12 hours today, which will take us down to somewhere in the neighborhood of 75-100 players left, probably. Tomorrow they will play down to 27, however long that takes.

Some names to watch still in it:

Former champs:
Scott Nguyen
Berry Johnston
Huck Seed
Carlos Mortensen
Robert Varkonyi

Known/semi-known pros:
Gus Hansen
Chad Brown
Humberto Brenes
Jason Lester
Lee Watkinson
Brandon Adams
David Levi
Mimi Tran

Online pros:
Sorel Mizzi
Jared Hamby
Darrell Dicken
Hevad Khan
Matt Sterling
Peter Feldman

Celebs:
Tobey Maguire
Sully Erna (lead singer of Godsmack)
Sam Simon (co-creator of The Simpsons)

Others:
Hal Lubarsky (blind dude)
Dario Minieri (very agro, current CL, purchased a Porsche with PokerStars frequent player points)

Twoplustwo guys:
Justin Rollo
Stephen O'Dwyer
Yuval Friedman

There's probably other notables I'm missing, but that's a nice list.

Lots of good names and stories in it today, but there's still a long way to go until serious money.

That was actually painful to watch even when you know whats coming. I guess he figured Sammy had trip Aces, at best? It would suck to get knocked out on the very first hand but it isn't as if he totally screwed it up. Crap happens, right?

Yeah, it's a brutal board too, because Sammy reasonably could have AK or AQ or even AJ, but honestly, Sammy probably doesn't move all-in with any of those hands on the first hand of the ME. Basically, if I'm playing against Sammy there, I think his hand range is roughly exactly AT. And maybe AA. It can't be TT because we have a T. There's literally 0 other hands a really good pro would play that way against a relatively unknown player.
