Yeah, no rush. Hoskins will only be 25 next season in AAA hitting bombs left and right.

And the current production is not really all that good

I like Joseph but Joseph isn't the future. Not sure what the point of waiting is. Hoskins could come up and do a Goldschmidt. We know what Joseph is. He is solid.

I think Hoskins will be the guy soon enough and rightfully so, but Joseph has an .820 OPS with 60 XBH in his last 162 games. People get a bit over dramatic about how "bad" he is.

well, right now he is. Raise his temperature to 1600 Celsius he would be liquid. A few more hundred degrees and he's a gas gas gas.

If you're referring to me, I never said Joseph was bad. I like Joseph but Hoskins should be in majors right now, or at the latest in September. Joseph will be a nice power bat off the bench next season.

Hoskins will be up sometime this season, if not within two weeks.

Just looking at things now considering that the Rangers weren't going to trade Mazara I think the Phillies had one of the better ace trades that you can pull off. I think Williams is going to be a star though and I know some think his ceiling is limited.

*It did suck trading Cole

concerning joseph... fangraphs splits tool reveals that if you leave out his babip-hell month of april, his 2017 wrc+ is nearly identical to what he posted in 2016: a genuinely productive (even for 1b) 114. so our gm might actually be right about that part. defense is an issue, but the scouting reports about that part of hoskins' game aren't exactly glowing. i'm ok with waiting a bit to see if joseph can get hot enough to boost his trade value going into the offseason. why sell low if you don't have to?

You don't think opposing teams GMs are aware of all of this? If he gets hot he gets hot. Everyone knows what he is. He could get insanely hot and everyone will still know that he isn't a good fielder and that he just got really hot.

How is it selling low when he is doing exactly what he is basically expected to do? I don't want to trade him because nobody will give up anything for him most likely. So no sell. Would like him as a great bench guy though.

Yeah, I would keep Joseph as a bat off the bench/insurance for 1B. My focus would be to get something for Galvis and Cesar in the offseason.

What is Alfaro's situation? I vaguely remember reading something about the team needing to put him on the Opening Day roster next season.

I'm excited about Hoskins, too but tbf no one knows whether he'll end up being more productive than Joseph at the big league level.

Geez...

On that team I remember the meet and greet I went to as a kid and the nicest stars were Dykstra and Hollins.

Daulton didn't seem like a jerk but he didn't want to be there obviously. Still an all time favorite.

I would actually say you might see a high scoring game. The OF is raking, Hernandez is hitting well, Maik and Fred are hitting dingers. Also, Velasquez is kinda stinky.

Not a lot of scoring, but a fun game for sure. It was my first time sitting in a suite at CBP so that was extra fun. Here's a snapchat I took of the end of it

Well yeah, dykstra was drunk as fuck and head was seen trying to score weed at the local high school parking lot. Outside of baseball, I seriously doubt hollins could integrate with the rest of society without copious amounts of green.

Alfaro is out of options next season and hasn't had a great year in AAA this year. One of the most disappointing prospect seasons this year, a lot of us (me included) saw him as a future all-star.
