The kids aren't alt-right - a politics thread

Markos Moulitsas @markos
We're seeing this incredible outpouring of resistance, and Democrats like @SenSchumer and @amyklobuchar are too f'n stupid to tap into it

We need a Tea Party of the Left movement. I happen to like both Schumer and Klobuchar but I'm sick and tired of watching Dems constantly try to compromise with a party that simply will not reciprocate. We need people who are going to go to Washington to fight for progressive causes and fight for working people again.

I don't think I want a liberal version of the TP, but I do think we need some mad dogs in there that won't compromise as the GOP tries to undermine society's safety net and everything else that might actually help people.

Have to admit Margaret Hamilton was a shocker.

Once did Oklahoma! with Margaret Hamilton. Terrific person. So tiny. I had to cock a colt 45 for her so she could fire it. Best buds with Fred Rogers. Last night of the show she stayed late and answered everyone's questions about Wizard of Oz. Nicest person you'd ever want to meet.

Maybe she should have campaigned in Wisconsin more

I appreciate the intervention swish, but the assertion was that I was ALWAYS saying drumpf could not win. A scan of hundreds of posts referencing drumpf turn up maybe a couple of instances where I said such a thing. Most of the time I was reinforcing my view that he's a gob of shit unfit to run a broom closet - a viewe I still hold.

Feels like ALWAYS is more toward the every single post end of the spectrum, rather than the once every 100 posts end of the spectrum. I may be wrong.
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Fair enough. I remember taking solace in your well-informed certainty, but I'm willing to grant that maybe my own hopeful self-delusion vested more in your words than was there.

Youseff isn't kidding when he says these Bernie Bros are awful. Stumbled on some guy, Conor Kirkpatrick. He's brutal. A main attack for him over the past 24 hours is Hillary hasn't tweeted in five days so she clearly does not care about anything other than her failed bid to be President.

He support Ellison for DNC but is said Chuck Schumer does because Wall Street owns him and it is Schumers party not the Democratic Socialist he claims to be.

It is like these people have zero understanding of politics or consensus building.

I was in Oklahoma in high school.

JFLNYC, what the F man, this is a story! You have to explain more. How often were you doing musicals with professional actors?

Clinton up 1.2 million. Most raw votes in any election in US history.

Dave Wasserman @Redistrict
Donald Trump got a lower share of the vote in Utah (where he won) than in New Hampshire (where he lost)

The Clinton Campaign Was Undone By Its Own Neglect And A Touch Of Arrogance, Staffers Say - there will be better stories with either more on the record sources or off the record sources specifically detailing what the internals were showing, but an awful lot of my belief here in Clinton being extremely likely to win was due to thinking the Clinton campaign was the only outfit that had a real data/polling operation and following their actions. It seems the Dems fucked up significantly worse than Romney's people in 2012 - at least there wasn't anything they suggested that cost him the election. So much for thinking we're miles behind them.

I have no idea what this tweet means. What are they supposed to do? Klobuchar is a terrific senator.

Not that there's any real groundswell to pass some legislation that overturns the electoral college, but if we get to that point I hope whatever uniform national election procedures we adopt are the opposite of what happens in California because the fact that they've got millions of votes uncounted 10 days after the election is effing pathetic. Like, in other states if it came down to a recount close margin we might be stuck, but California just takes forfuckingever to count its votes.
