And there was a federal law passed during LBJ's administration prohibiting that type of nepotism. So yeah... Steve King is still an idiot.

Conveniently, walling off the sun will also eliminate solar power as an alternative energy source and maybe stimulate oil/coal.

Yeh, Trump would probably go talk to the aliens and then forget to mention it

It's amazing how many horrible authoritarian and nationalistic leaders from all over the world are just giddy at a Trump presidency.

this american life this past week is decent. basically a bunch of short stories on reactions from people they have talked to over the past year regarding the election along with some new ones.

cops excited because they have been attacked under obama.

trumpers from the south because the economy is going to go up. coal is coming back.

teacher with mostly latino/a students crying all day with parents through parent/teacher conferences.

McConnell already stated it's not. It's simply market forces at work. It's not a good thing that he fed people this line. Sigh.

Coal suffered a true capitalistic demise. just so insane and irresponsible. 90% sure he won the election based on that statement alone.

625 instances of "drumpf", 407 in posts of mine. Hmm, only 625, kind of surprised it wasn't more....

There can be no question that from the get-go I have described the POTUS-elect in disparaging terms - and in nothing OTHER than disparaging terms. I feel that some of those descriptions are still pretty funny.

I also expressed my revulsion at this "candidate" in ways that certainly made clear I was unequivocally opposed to his candidacy and his election.

But on a quick scan I have found only one instance which I opined that I 'hoped that when he was defeated.'...

You might find something more, but my feeling is there's not a lot for you to lean on in there.

I wasn't going to post until yoiu went all Gary Hart on us. :-D

No he doesn't. No one serious observer believes he can win a general election, or even possibly that he is genuinely committed to doing so. Not one. Pundits pretend that they believe it in public because hey, they need some kind of horserace to report on. Turnip is a failure who will fail at this as he's failed at so many other things he's confidently predicted he would 'win' at.

He couldn't find it because he couldn't remember what name he was using to be dismissive of Trump. :)

We need to stop putting everyone into small groups that separate us from each other, as the progressive, leftist presidencies of Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama have done for the last 24 years.

George W Bush is now a leftist progressive. They've taken their deeply unpopular two-term conservative Republican president and written him off as a leftist.

If you consider the expansion of the dept of education, creation of Medicare Part D, nation-building in the middle east, orchestration of the wall street bailouts, he wasn't much of a limited-government defender. I don't think that makes him liberal, but that's probably why the author does.

Sanders is named 'Chair of Outreach'. Warren was elevated to vice-chair. Schmuder was officially elected Senate minority leader, Durban is minority whip and Patty Murray is #3. Mark Warner and Debbie Stabenow also have positions. Here's the ranking committee leaders

Seeing Wisconsin plummet that much makes me think voter ID was actually a very big deal there. Utah went down the most because Mormons didn't want to vote for anyone and probably really wanted to vote for Romney in 2012.

no mention of the alt right or bannon in this one. Prager is a 'serious, sober' conservative, btw. You could put his talk show on if the warm milk hasn't kicked in yet.

I keep hearing how the Democrats have no young stars in the party. I can count 5-10 in the Senate alone. Cory Booker, Chris Murphy, Kamala Harris, Michael Bennet (this guy is a hidden gem), Brian Schatz, Amy Klobuchar, Kirsten Gillibrand, Tammy Baldwin, Tammy Duckworth, etc.
