Trump Dreck II: The Wrath of the Khans (politics)

The best scenario for the GOP going forward is for Trump to drop out and for them to let Hillary run unopposed. That will depress Dem voter turnout and let them keep their Congressional majorities.

It's pretty self apparent that when a bill gets passed by exclusively democratic members of congress and then the liberal hold on Congress gets slaughtered in the following election that the ACA was in fact Liberal legislation. I realize it doesn't reach your standards, but policy does not need a rubber stamp from you to be correctly considered progressive or liberal.

Maureen Dowd wrote an entire column about how President Obama endorsing Hillary Clinton basically shows him to be a fraud. Basically, he thought she wasn't as qualified as him 8 years ago, so why now?! yes, the leader of the party endorses its nominee for president....FRAUD

She is so weird.

Even if that silly argument was legit and not just campaign politics, does she at least acknowledge Hillary has done some stuff since 2008?

No, the only thing regarding Clinton doing anything in the past 8 years was her mention of Comey and the FBI. The unsaid premise of the snark article centers around the idea that Obama sold his soul to the Clintons to get her support 8 years ago and this is 'icy pragmatism' payback. And that's a bad thing because Dowd greatly dislikes the Clintons...that enough should be reason not to endorse your successor I guess?

Yeah, Dowd has a pathological hatred for the Clintons. She used to be fun to read, but she's totally jumped the shark.

I don't have any great love for the Clintons (I like Hillary more than Bill, I think) but I see Hillary as the best chance for liberalism and the best chance for our nation to remain sane. If you're a liberal or if you simply don't want to devolve into authoritarian rule, she's no doubt the best option. Her being a sane Democrat and President Obama being the current Democratic President should be sufficient enough of a reason for him to endorse her on the week of the convention, though. She should know this, and she does, but she wants to spend a column whining about it. And the NY Times pays her for it.

it's more to the left then the horribly regressive system we had. The ACA wouldn't be defined as "leftist" in any other place but stupidly-warped USA as is currently. solidly right apparently means centrist in America and by touting the ACA as a great leftist triumph, we only play into that reality.

I am sticking to the idea that the qualities that make Hillary a less than awesome campaigner will in fact make her an exceptionally effective President, a mirror image of her husband. While like many I'm not a huge fan of Hillary, I do think she's the one Democrat who can bring a Republican Congress to heal, or at least make them pay a significant political cost for continuing their obstruction.

[NJ] Senate President Stephen Sweeney said Wednesday said threats by public worker unions to withhold campaign contributions unless the Senate puts a proposed constitutional amendment guaranteeing pension payments on the fall ballot amounts to "bribery" and "extortion" and should be investigated by state and federal officials.

Yeah, he really said that.

I think she might be able to adapt the LBJ technique of browbeating, bullying, and threatening work in a way Obama just couldn't or didn't.
