well, disagree on the too pretty for me part, but agree that lots of rich pretty girls vote GOP, and Trump is quickly becoming an establishment candidate.

Here's the thing--Cruz can't win the nomination--if he can't win in places like SC, he can't win enough states to get the nomination particularly when much of the party leadership hates his guts and would rather see Trump win the nomination. But he's not going to drop out anytime soon. I don't think it's really likely Cruz makes a deal with Rubio to drop out in exchange for veep or something. Furthermore, even if Cruz does drop out, I don't think more than half his supporters go to Rubio.

The surprising thing about Trump is the people who say they are supporting him in the polls are showing up to vote. If I'm not mistake, SC is a closed primary state, and if that's correct, that means Trump's support is coming from registered Republicans, not angry low information independents or mischievous Democrats.

However, I don't think Trump can win a majority of delegates. So get your popcorn ready.

Rubio spent over 11 million in SC. Right behind Bush who spent the most. Trump doesn't really spend money. Not at that level anyways. Rubio bsrely got second and got zero delegates. It's fascinating really.

Republican SC is a cesspool of america's most racist, backward, sisterfucking hicks imaginable. They elected President Gingrich, as I recall. They define "mouthbreather"

I don't understand why Rubio gets credit for getting all of Bush, Kusick voters but Trump is not supposed to get any of those voters or any of Carson or Cruz's votes (if they drop out). Add up Carson, Trump, and Cruz and you have a boatload of people voting for crazy. They would engulf any group from Rubio, Bush, and Kasich.

Won't Carson and Cruz eventually bow out? And given how Carson feels about Cruz, wouldn't his voters go to Trump for sure? I wonder how much Carson is getting to stay in the race.

trump certainly does have a path to the nomination. it would be foolish to count him out at this point. it would also be foolish to proclaim him the nominee after he ran well in iowa, new hampshire, and south carolina.

Cruz has run 1-2-3. He's going to be around for quite a while.

It's not that black & white, but in the main, Bush voters are not lining up behind an asshole like Turnip. They can stomach Rubio. Turnip is a highly polarizing figure, meaning if you aren't with him, it's quite likely you find him disgusting.

Turnip's "campaign" provides a lab for all sorts of theories about the american electorate. Among them: the general capacity of Joe & Josie American to objectively evaluate anyone's capacity for leadership, anyone's genuine talents for positions of authority. The man has demonstrated, over a prolonged period, that he is profoundly ignorant of how america's governing bodies function, and of even the broadest contours of the nation's founding precepts.

He's not qualified to be dogcatcher, much less President.

If someone working for me did such a lousy job of evaluating a job candidate, I would fire them (in the event that participation in an objective, rationally devised remedial productivity improvement program did not salvage said lousy job candidate evaluator).

You're on notice, America

i believe i saw a CNN breakdown which split up republicans and independents, so I think it's partially open; however, Trump was fairly even :

76% republicans
Trump 32%
Cruz 24%
Rubio 23%
Bush 8%
Carson 6%
Kasich 6%

22% independents
Trump 33%
Rubio 19%
Cruz 17%
Kasich 13%
Carson 10%
Bush 7%

I wonder if Republican voters realize that Kasich is an extremely conservative guy? I guess expanding medicaid was the be all, end all. They see that and move on. He's pretty much boilerplate modern conservative with everything else. The rest of the public is generally for expanding medicaid.

fwiw, the breakdown was also 96% white. the 4% of other is too small for them to get accurate data on who went for who. the party has a problem there in the general election.
