This guy is spiraling out of control.

he's finally realizing that he might have a chance to win. He's like, "shit, this was supposed to just lead to a reality show and a book deal," so he keeps trying to sound crazier and crazier. But the crazies love him more and more with each moronic thing he's says because he's saying stuff they've read in emails from their looney uncles. He's probably trying to find something stupid to say to have his poll numbers drop, but he can't find anything crazy enough for the teaparty crowd who believe being educated or showing curiosity are signs of weakness.

Ted Cruz appeared at a 'Religious Liberties' event with a pastor that thinks we should round up gays and kill them. He's probably going to be the Republican nominee.

This makes me want to see Trump hang around a little longer. He's forcing the other candidates to show their true colors, not that Cruz needed much help in that regard.

Interesting take from Josh Marshall...

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/it- ... it-s-alive

And yet, for all the poetic justice, this doesn't quite capture what's happening. Parties and politics inflect and harness trends in the broader society. They don't create them. There's nothing new under the sun about Trumpism. It's just a turbo-charged, more media savvy version of the resentment politics the GOP has been tapping for fuel and riding for decades. The familiarity of the Trump message comes across clearly in that aforementioned Washington Post article where those pushing a Stop Trump movement don't focus on the racism or xenophobia but on Trump's past support for universal health care or the Clintons. In other words, there's apparently no stopping Trump on the right. Or as Romney guru and former top aide Eric Fehrnstrom told The Boston Globe: “These Republican candidates haven’t figured out a successful way to disqualify Trump. Attacking him from the left is a losing strategy in our primary.” The only viable attack is that he's actually too liberal or is merely a cynical manipulator pretending to embrace hard right politics for his own gain.

I really can't figure out what his endgame is except maybe to throw the election to Hillary.

Most likely it's just massive ego gratification and he's just making up shit as he goes along.

If it's the second thing, then he's really pathological.

I tend to think he has as good of a chance to help the GOP by making Bush or Rubio appear to be much more centrist than they are. How does he help Hillary? Unless Trump's the nominee, will Rubio or whoever have to wear the stain of Trump's remarks said during the primary? I doubt it. If they stay disciplined, they can actually use Trump to make themselves seem reasonable and separate themselves from the crazy stuff he's done. The GOP primary voters will still vote for the GOP guy, and Rubio or whoever will be better positioned to go at the center of the electorate.

or maybe I'm wrong. After all, I did think Christie would be the nominee before the bridge nonsense.

Turnip is heavy, smelly, smegmatic garbage that will drag on whomever the Rs nominate at this point. That worthy will be asked frequently where they were when Trump was the party's leader and they didn't blast him & his bullshit, & because those likeliest to supplant him didn't do so, that will be a hard question for them to address.

No R nominee currently campaigning has a detectable chance to win the office anyway, but Turnip's very existence is comprehensively bad for Republicans
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Trump has a tenuous grasp on reality. Plus, he doesn't believe in fact checking stuff.

I'd like to think they don't have a chance, but Hillary is practically the personification of entrenched Washington interests and people are pretty sick of those types right now. I also don't think she'll excite the dem base. So few people switch sides in the election that it's pretty much built into the system to be relatively close, at least in terms of popular vote. A few % points will likely swing it one way or another. Add in the fact that hardly anyone is paying attention right now, and I'm not sure Hillary is a lock at all. All Rubio or whoever has to say is, "I'm not responsible for what Trump says. Why don't you address me and my ideas?" The main thing Hillary has going in her favor is that she's ridiculously competent and knowledgeable, as the Benghazi! inquisition showed.
