Follow the law or give up your position. She should've been dismissed from her position. This should've went away, but some judge is just as much of an asshat for sending her to jail and making a martyr out of her. How about if this was a Muslim and that person didn't want to do this or something else that might object to sharia law? If you're in the private sector and want to discriminate, aka object due to religious beliefs than fine. If you're in the government you follow the law or quit.

she's elected, so she couldn't be dismissed. the judge stepping in was the way to go for stopping her from doing it

Pick for State Department Transparency Czar Donated to Clinton Campaign

Secretary of State John Kerry appointed a transparency “czar” Tuesday in a move to head off controversy stirred by the department’s efforts to release thousands of pages of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails. But the appointment sparked further criticism from Republicans, as the new czar recently made a large donation to the Clinton presidential campaign.

Mr. Kerry tapped Janice Jacobs, a former assistant secretary for consular affairs and career diplomat, to lead the State Department’s efforts to improve document preservation and wait times for document releases requested by Congress and the public. She previously helped to reform the U.S. visa application process after 2001 terror attacks.

The appointment of a transparency czar comes in response to heightened scrutiny of the department following the revelation that Mrs. Clinton used a private email server and a flood of public records requests since 2008. The State Department is in the process of screening and releasing 55,000 pages of her emails.

Ms. Jacobs donated the maximum $2,700 to Mrs. Clinton’s campaign on June 22, according to Federal Election Commission records. Raj Shah, research director at the Republican National Committee, said Tuesday that the choice of a Clinton donor to oversee issues related to the former secretary of state’s email was further evidence of the “blurred” lines between the campaign and the State Department.

In an interview, Ms. Jacobs said she made that donation as a private citizen and months before she had entered into conversations with the State Department about her new role. She retired from the State Department in June 2014; moreover, federal employees aren’t barred from donating to campaigns.

“I think that the announcement lays it out pretty clearly what Secretary Kerry has hired me for and it’s not just the Clinton emails, but in general to make sure that the department is as responsive and efficient as it can be in handling the various document requests that come in,” she said. “He just wants to make sure it’s all well-coordinated and that deadlines are met and that we just look proactive and responsive.”

The most transparent administration in history strikes another blow for good governance. Bahaha

Person brought in to improve the transparency of the State Department (which has been lacking responsiveness for years) in the wake of the Hillary email fiasco is a max Hillary donor. It's not a scandal, but it's a farce.

So you wouldnt have had a problem with a large donor to the Christie campaign getting appointed to a new transparency role that was to evaluate the Bridge closing "issues?"

Jh wouldn't have been upset with that. That's the point.

You guys act like I'm not #1 for money out of politics. You are the guys that like donations to campaigns. You can't like them and then say that those who donate ar disallowed from any roles in government.

The point is he's full of it. He forgot that money in politics was bad for years, still forgets, but then remembers when it comes to Obama or, now, Clinton. It's pathetic, honestly.

Even if you assume that moneyin politics is going to happen, and people donate to politicians all the time, donors should not be placed into awkward positions having to regulate/enforce policy that could be to the detriment of the recipient of their funds.

My Christie analogy is apt.

I do like donations to campaigns, and making this about money in politics is of course nonsense. Giving money to Hillary did not make Jacobs a Hillary partisan. We're able to know just how strongly she backs Clinton due to her giving the $$, but the donation is just an instrument through which her allegiance is made clear to the public. Your causation arrows are pointing in the wrong direction.

That the State Department would go ahead and install her in this role even with this publicly known shows once again how much of a joke this administration treats acting transparently after all of their big talk.

I'm fine with limits on campaign spending, and I wouldn't be opposed to publicly financed campaigns to eliminate many of the conflicts of interest that pervade today (and that cost the American taxpayer many many billions per year). Libertarians don't support the Corporatism that is the status quo, and campaign spending overhaul would improve some of that.

I havent given campaign spending much thought in the past few years, but it doesn't take a well-rounded position on the BCRA to recognize a charade.
