I still don't believe Trump is really running for President, but it's some sort of elaborate performance art piece about our present day political discourse.

I'll tell ya though, between Trump's comments about Carly Fiorina's looks and Bobby J's retaliatory comment about The Donald's hair, American politics appears to be heading toward daily new lows. All the serious issues both domestic and abroad and these idiots only seem interested in slugging it out in the mud.

A month back or so I read a think piece about how Bernie Sanders got defensive when asked about his not good hair. He basically responded who gives a shit. This was newsworthy and I wanted to cry about the state of the discourse in American politics.

It wouldnt surprise me if Bernie wins or comes really close in IA and NH but the minority population is rather low in comparison and Hillary will then go on to romp

He needs to start appearing in polls where there is an actual representation of our population for me to say he has a chance. When I meet a non white guy that supports the Bern I'll let you know.

i was obviously being obtuse because i like to use anecdotal evidence for fun. but we consistently care too much about Iowa and New Hampshire when other states end up being very important. What those two stats do is a drive a media narrative, IMO.

If you recall the discussion, I said he was a serious candidate but is not a Democrat and is not a real threat to win the nomination.

Short piece on Ben Carson by Amy Davidson in the New Yorker that pretty much sums up my reactions to him. Maybe because I lived in Baltimore I've been familiar with him for quite a while.It's odd to see him treated as coming out of nowhere in 2013 or so.

Anyway,the first 3/4 about his history can only fill you with admiration and respect for his accomplishments and character. Then, when he opens his mouth at the end, I honestly start wondering if he is a little,well, disturbed.

Carson's deranged in a way the highly specifically talented seem to be quite frequently. His talents & skills are great, his personal story is great, his worldview is...well, 5 year olds have more realistic worldviews.

He's first on my list of people to operate on children's heads...not on my list of people to lead any town council, less the USA

Compare him as a politically capable creature with another egghead like, say, Ernest Moniz. There's not really even much place to begin the comparison. And I don't want Moniz running for POTUS either.

He's got the GOP economic "plan" that capitalism is great and people who don't have money just have to work harder, as we have plenty of well paying jobs out there if they only pulled themselves up by their boot straps.

Gotta love how their economic policy is basically "eh, the free market will work this shit out". That's not an economic plan. It's the opposite.
