Scary tweet from the head of government when you start labeling the leader of an opposition party as a "threat to national security."

This seems like a weird complaint to me. I think Corbyn, if PM, would be a real threat to British national security. Would you have a problem with Obama suggesting Trump is a threat to American national security if he attains power? I mean, I am the hackiest GOP hack and that seems like a pretty fair statement to me. If you think an opposing party politician's foreign policy is a trainwreck waiting to happen, why should you have to hold your tongue if you're in power?

ALERTS TO THREATS IN 2015 EUROPE
From JOHN CLEESE

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent events in Syria and have therefore raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorised from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots have raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards." They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide." The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralysing the country's military capability.

Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides."

The Germans have increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbour" and "Lose."

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels ..

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be right, Mate." Two more escalation levels remain: "Crikey! I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!" and "The barbie is cancelled." So far no situation has ever warranted use of the last final escalation level.

Regards,
John Cleese ,
British writer, actor and tall person

And as a final thought - Greece is collapsing, the Iranians are getting aggressive, and Rome is in disarray. Welcome back to 430 BC.

Amusing, but not actually written by John Cleese. There is another one addressed to America, also supposedly from him, but not.

They're both a bit hacky for him tbh.

took 3 minutes to see Trump's speech...he basically just says '_____ loves me, can you believe it?!' 'i will be so good at ____ you dont even know'

people lapping this shit up

"Sometimes he puts his foot in his mouth, just like everybody," said Barbara Tomasino, a 65-year-old retired elementary school librarian from Plano, Texas, who donned a dress, shoes and a purse plastered with pictures of Trump's face. "If he gets elected, he might need to tone it down a little bit."

Except he said that the entire party is a threat to national security. Assume for a moment that Trump wins the GOP nomination. Would you think it'd be a fair statement for Obama/Clinton/Dem Nom to then say "The Republican Party is a threat to our national security, our economic security, and your family's security."

I'd be pretty upset if they said it, and I'm definitely not a partisan Republican.

"Are they really escaping tyranny, are they escaping poverty, or are they really just coming because we've got cable TV?" the former governor of Arkansas asked. "I don't mean to be trite. I'm just saying: We don't know." Instead of coming to the United States, Huckabee wants to see the refugees go to Saudi Arabia. "We will send some assistance through our charitable organizations for some hospitals and schools," he said. "We will design the curriculum for those schools. They won't be madrassas to teach terrorism."

I wouldn't have a problem with that, but even if that's where you draw the distinction between fair/unfair, the electoral system in the UK makes bringing the whole party in appropriate. Unless you live in a tiny slice of North London, you aren't voting for or against Jeremy Corbyn. If enough people across the country support the local Labour Party candidate so the Labour Party wins a majority of seats in the House of Commons, Corbyn becomes PM.

is 10-15% really a high prediction? working class Democrats are going to be into his protectionist/"Economic Nationalist" ideas. (heck, I'm into them.) and some of them will be willing to overlook the racist stuff, especially since that will be less of an emphasis if he gets the nomination

Texans of this woman's generation are among the stupidest creatures on earth. She probably can't name another POTUS candidate of any party, and doubtless will not be able to recall Trump's name by this date next year.

Here's the thing:

HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY IDEAS.

He's a scurvy human being who will not be nominated and will "disappear" back into the pop-cultural miasma from which he wafted, and not soon enough for anyone with 2 functioning brain cells.

7% of democrats voted for Romney, 10% voted for McCain, 11% voted for Bush in 04 and 00. 10% is not ridiculous

The demographics have changed rapidly since 2004. Even your numbers show the trend, mitt was not nearly as unpalatable as Trump (to dems) and he only got 7%. Trump would get like 3-4%
