Hillary has started to feel the Bern (Politics threat)

On a human level, I must say, it takes a real disgusting human being to choose to sit her ass in jail rather than to sign a piece of paper that will make two other human beings really happy. That's Christianity?

Tebow tweeted this other day and it's so fitting:

"Spread love everywhere you go! Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier."

The state is concerned with the desires of the majority. Libertarians care about the rights of the individual. Those two things aren't the same.

mozartpc27 wrote: If an individual wants to do something society has deemed undesirable, and has therefore elected representatives to enact laws to identify and punish this undesirable behavior (a collection of practices we refer to as "the state"), then the individual must have his rights curbed because his/her freedom has encroached on everyone else's, by definition.

I think the problem with libertarian thought is present in this contradiction - that it can simultaneously suggest an unlimited space for individual action, and the permanent primacy of the state.

"everyone else's" refers to everyone else's desires, not rights. Libertarians don't believe in the right to have your desires imposed on others.

Get five libertarians together and you'll get six definitions of libertarian

She's probably had good legal counsel from the very beginning. She isn't doing this alone, I'd bet.

Not sure if you're serious, but her lawyer is some religious nut who is lying to her about her "legal defense".

I don't know anything about her legal counsel, really. I was just guessing she had some kind of counsel because I doubt she would have known to stop denying them to everyone. I also figured there are no shortage of nuts who would be willing to pay for our give her free legal counsel. It doesn't surprise me her advice is uneven.

Here's a little bit about the Liberty Council that is the "firm" taking up her defense: http://www.hrc.org/resources/entry/10-t ... ty-counsel

The Liberty Council pretty much lied to her about there being an actual legal case here: http://www.courier-journal.com/story/ne ... /71663292/

Her attorney issued this completely idiotic statement today, btw:

“Does that mean that if you’re Christian, don’t apply here; if you’re a Jew, you gotta get — what happened in Nazi Germany, what happened there first, they removed the Jews from government public employment, then they stopped patronizing them in their private businesses, then they continued to stigmatize them, then they were the ‘problems,’ then they killed them,” Staver said. “The fact of the matter is, she has a right to this employment and you don’t lose your constitutional liberties just because you are employed by the government.”

Anyone still feel bad for these people?

That quote wouldn't be so depressing if the entirety of the Republican field wasn't rushing to defend this woman. I bet Mike Huckabee heard that comment and started nodding his head so forcefully in agreement he gave himself a minor concussion.

Conservatives continue to lie about the "damaging" effects of minimum wage increases

The claim is that some restaurants in Seattle are closing so they must have been negatively effected by the recent minimum wage hike to $15/hr! 1 problem. It hasn't gone into effect yet. Oops.

That didn't stop lobbyist Richard Berman from creating Faces Of 15, a website which lists businesses that have been hurt by the minimum wage hike. If this wasn't all already embarrassing, at least 4 of the 21 businesses he lists on the site are in support of the wage hikes, including one Seattle establishment that voluntarily raised their minimum wage to $15/hr before the first increase to 12something this past January.

Faces of 15 also points out that a higher minimum wage could lead to things like touch screen ordering instead of ordering through an actual person(ffs, SE PA had this technology 10 years ago, get with it, the rest of the nation). One such McDonald's has actually done just that with chilling results. They actually had to hire more employees because people loved the efficient ordering process. Oops again.

Just some more outright lies from the people trying to keep a majority of Americans relatively poor. Trump 2016!

What Constitutional liberty did she lose? Constitution separates church and state. So did Jesus. Zero legs to stand on for this woman. None. They should be able to suspend her for refusing to do her job. I guess the folks who can do that are skeered.

Someday we may get a large group of voters who understand the Constitution and stuff. And maybe then we can take back our localities, states and federal government.

Not holding my breath though.

Absolutely none. Her legal council is arguing using a Bible while the rest of the legal system is interpreting the Constitution and US Law.

If you know much about the Bible, you know it doesn't support her position either.

I remember seeing that it was split between total support and careful back track for the GOP field.
