I think I've had the flu once. Definitely not fun. Never had a flu shot and probably won't. Superstitious I guess, but not saying that's necessarily a smart move on my part.

i'd say that is pretty rare.

there are risks, sure, but the benefits far outweigh it. i mean, just because you haven't gotten the flu or are young and healthy doesn't mean there could be some morbidity if you do catch it. odds are that each year you don't get the shot, you likely won't get the flu but keep rolling the dice and you'll get it sometime...just doesn't seem worth it given the very small risks associated with getting the shot. im not preaching like this is childhood vaccines or anything because it's certainly not like that, but it's generally a very very low risk.

And by getting the shot, you help protect people who cannot be vaccinated through herd immunity (and I include children with stupid parents in "people who cannot be vaccinated"). And those people are frequently also those who are most at risk of morbidity from flu.

Yeah, what is this whole gamer gate thing about? I've seen a few links here and there that are like "this is a well balanced look at what it is" then when I click on them they are like 10,000 words and I decide that I just don't care that much about it. Can someone give me the elevator version?

my twitter feed has had about a hundred tweets mocking gamergate but I don't think any actual instances of gamergate so I have no friggin clue

a women who is a game developer slept with someone who rates video games. he did not rate HER video game. her ex was pissed at this, leaked the info, and people started harassing her. now they are harassing multiple women because they are women and spoke up against this thing, along with miysogony(sp.?) in the video game industry, proving their point. one guy went so far as to call the college where one for the women was to have held a talk and threatened to come there with a gun and blow everyone away if she spoke. the college decided not to ban guns from campus, so she cancelled the talk. another woman moved out of her home for a little bit of time and is in a hotel due to the threats.

I have a bar friend who told me the other day that she was lying and made the death threats up. I asked where he heard that. He said reddit. I walked away.

Thanks. This seems really dumb and dangerous. I get it that people would be upset if reviews aren't being written fairly, indie publishers in particularly since they have little to no marketing and these reviews can essentially make or break them. But people gonna fuck, its unfortunate if one if then has to be immature and petty and "get revenge " but going after them in this way is criminal. The gaming community has a really gross underbelly, between this and "swatting " they are pushing people away from their community. I barely play online anymore unless it's with pals b/c in sick of getting cursed out by 12 year Olds or at least people who act 12.
