I work at a goddamn medical company and there are many people here not getting a flu shot (that they give for free in 2 minutes in our office) because they 'don't get the flu' or 'you can get sick from it'. I...don't get it.

Nodding off. bought some 5hour figuring id need it after lunch but I may take half now

meh, i haven't ever had a flu shot. not really interested in getting one. had a friend get one and they put the needle in the wrong spot and he ended up bursting a bursa sac and then having to do rehab for several months and his shoulder still isn't right.

My buddy is crashing at my place til his work transfer to Boston goes through (not td). Spent a large portion of last night cleaning up some of the squalor I've apparently been perfectly fine ignoring during the summer construction/overtime season.

i'd say that is pretty rare.

there are risks, sure, but the benefits far outweigh it. i mean, just because you haven't gotten the flu or are young and healthy doesn't mean there could be some morbidity if you do catch it. odds are that each year you don't get the shot, you likely won't get the flu but keep rolling the dice and you'll get it sometime...just doesn't seem worth it given the very small risks associated with getting the shot. im not preaching like this is childhood vaccines or anything because it's certainly not like that, but it's generally a very very low risk.

or i could get the Flu shot and still end up getting the Flu regardless

I will anecdotally point out that when the Army forced me to get a flu shot during basic I came down with the worst sinus infection I've ever had.

6 years later I let them give me smallpox.

Even if you don't die, the flu is pretty unpleasant. Also, for a couple of weeks after I get my flu shot I feel bullet proof.

I get the shot but then in Dec I will fake having it so I can take 2 days to avoid work/parenting and sit on the couch to watch movies.

she insists she had no work done. she said she was just always tired and stressed in the past and now that's no longer the case.
