Without attempting to minimize the complexity of the underlying problems with the website, if Sebelius cannot find people who can fix the issues Obama needs to get somebody in there who can.

If Obamacare fails, it will be at least a generation before anyone of any party tries to do anything with healthcare again. And reform will be in response to very real crises. It's too bad that no one seems to be able to come up with a more incrementalist approach.

i'm not sure how much more incrementalist one could get than the ACA in regards to healthcare reform.

I think there was an opportunity under Bush, when the Democrats tried to expand SCHIPS.

The weird stupid thing is this is like an administrative goof, on the order of losing a stack of enrollment forms. That's hard to grasp given the loud& low level of media & congressional cluelessness on both sides of the aisle, but it's not the Cuban missile crisis

Yeh, I'm not sure how we go from website problems keeping down enrollment to a failure on the level of the Titanic, which is what the opposition wants everyone to think. Sure, you need people to sign up for it to work, but we're talking about a delay of a few months. In the olden days, like just a few years ago, it would have taken 2-3 months to do anything. You know, back before the intertubes said we had to have everything done yesterday.

Obamacare is in much more trouble than it was one week ago - So Congressional Democrats, spurred on by Bill Clinton eager to distance Team Clinton from this stench, are starting to break from lockstep support. They feel like they've been lied to by the administration, and that's put them in an increasingly tough position politically back home.

Probably time for the administration to start dialing back expectations and looking for some short term fixes for this mess. If they keep losing credibility with their key supporters in Congress, they're going to see a real flood of members teaming up with the GOP on delay bills and plans to reinstate old coverage to distance themselves from the administration.

Sebelius says ‘the marketplace is working’ for health-care enrollment - Or they can go that route.

I mean it is obviously a political problem. But there's no obvious reason why that should make the technical problem a real problem. & I feel its capacity to do so may be a harbinger of a more intractable kind of problem.

Obamenemies should be leery of "settling" for the non-fix fix that landrieu's proposal actually is.

Even more, I'm kind of surprised insurers have not screamed like stuck pigs about it yet.

Ultimately, the White House needs to be able to convince congressional Democrats that their best chance in 2014 is a working law. Solving a political problem now at the case of worsening a policy problem 10 months from now isn't a good trade. But they can't do that unless congressional Democrats are confident that the White House can make the law work.

Yup. They made a law that relied on young and upper-middle class healthy people to finance their law through more expensive insurance. They can't let those people selectively opt out without guaranteeing that the law goes down in flames.

So you:re imagining that, say, an "if you REALLY like your health ins. you can keep it" patch is just the ticket?
