Probably JH is the only one who cares, but so far, no one knows anything about Griffin dropping out, but scandal seems unlikely.

I am interested. Who doesn't enjoy the possibility (at least) of a good scandal?

Bringing a little European flavoring to the early life of this thread, but I found this article interesting. It's well known how burdensome the French tax codes have been on spurring economic recovery, especially given Hollandes platform of reversing the entitlement regulatory reforms made by Sarkozy. Still, the degree to which France is levying new taxes is pretty crazy, it's to a point now where even the French are acknowledging its excessive and causing an exodus of sorts of talent out of France.

As a disclaimer I'm not saying this is what Obamacare is going to do to America or drawing parallels to here, not even close. If people think we are taxed to death here than they should really look at France. This just kind of highlights a different approach to the Merkel's of the world who would prefer austerity measures to cut deficit gaps.

Ohio to accept Medicaid expansion because they're not dumb. 275k, roughly, to eventually be covered. another failure.

has anyone gone to the website??? it's pretty smooth at this point. i just tried it, and the numbers are comparable to what was previously available through employers in Berks, and is cheaper for my parents' than their current plan, before any premium support, even.

Health insurance exchange launched despite signs of serious problems

Days before the launch of President Obama’s online health insurance marketplace, government officials and contractors tested a key part of the Web site to see whether it could handle tens of thousands of consumers at the same time. It crashed after a simulation in which just a few hundred people tried to log on simultaneously.

Despite the failed test, federal health officials plowed ahead.

When the Web site went live Oct. 1, it locked up shortly after midnight as about 2,000 users attempted to complete the first step, according to two people familiar with the project.

...

Some key testing of the system did not take place until the week before launch, according to this person. As late as Sept. 26, there had been no tests to determine whether a consumer could complete the process from beginning to end: create an account, determine eligibility for federal subsidies and sign up for a health insurance plan, according to two sources familiar with the project.

Someone, maybe a lot of someones, should get fired for this. Or at least be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Ideally by Michael "Brownie" Brown.

Does the outside world really believe that some early website issues = ACA is a failure? Because that would really be idiotic.

the right in this very country believes it. NRO reporter jonathan strong actually tweeted this yesterday:

as evidenced by that salon article about fox's fact fabrication, there's a lot of people who will steadfastly refuse to even try the exchange, glitches or no glitches

Exhibit #9534 why sticking to principles based on ideology is stupid and often evil.

A poorly working website may lead to an undesirable selection bias; only the really sick people are the ones that bother to sign up. That would be bad.

Take it to the IT thread. That has nothing to do with healthcare or politics.

Yes, because not being able to log into a website is exactly like a nearly nine-year war that cost the US trillions of dollars and 37,000 US soldiers killed or injured.
