Just found out a first cousin of mine was killed in a snowmobile accident in Vermont on Friday night. I babysat him, his brother and his sister for two summers when I was in college. Was only 25 years old.

What a fucking week.

I went back to church today for the first time in a very long time looking to rekindle my faith and then this happens. Not really sure what the spiritual message of this past week is supposed to be...other than I'm really tired of my family members dying young.

I feel like there are less secret admirers today and more stalkers, according to women anyways.

lived a little too much this weekend. bought a spur-of-the-moment Stubhubbed punk show ticket on Saturday and I guess everything was leading up to that anyway, but it got me to trouble if I wasn't already there. Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes and Monsters of Folk fame had a punk band called Desaparecidos before he became the poster child for everything that's been misclassified as emo in the 21st Century. they've gotten back to touring for whatever reason, and they're touring in support of political prisoner/rapist Bradley Manning of Wikileaks for whatever reason. I'm still beside myself that I lost my $5 Mitchell and Ness Eagles snapback and that someone walked off with it. it's the only bad thing that's ever happened to me at a punk show. the best thing that's happened to me at a punk show also happened last night: Oberst got on a pro-Obama soap box and my roommate and I, both drunk, simultaneously started shouting about drone strikes, oblivious that the other was doing the same.

after the show my roommate bummed a cig off a lady in front of Union Transfer while I wildly lashed out about someone stealing my hat, exaggerated for dramatic effect because I was drunk and I didn't have my girlfriend around to embarrass. he got his cigarette and she told him she was married to Steven Page, the lead singer of Barenaked Ladies. he didn't believe her, because she was obviously a liar, until she brought us back into the bar to hang out with Steven Page, the lead singer of Barenaked Ladies. We had to run to a friend's birthday party at Raven Lounge, though. instead of going back to their hotel room to fuck and sleep and get up and drive back to Syracuse to write his film scores and be the father of his three kids, though, they just shared a cab with us and Page picked up the fare. I was doggedly attempting to avoid geeking out the entire time I was around him, because about 15 years ago I knew all the words to "One Week" and owned multiple CDs this dude's recorded. I think he sorta picked up on the fact that I genuinely liked him, but he was polite enough to maintain smug self-satisfaction instead of sheer outward dickishness. he dressed nice and let me make fun of him for getting busted for coke possession.

my friend's birthday was a blast and she was really happy we brought the guy from Barenaked Ladies with us. He was a hit. Everybody had a good night. my roommate passed out in Raven Lounge's stairwell and got kicked out and lost his phone and debit card. i was up until 6 in the morning doing some solid reckless self-loathing exercises and crying during Freaks and Geeks episodes and letting girls I don't like that much smoke cigarettes in my living room. but i woke up today and told a lot of people about how I hung out with a dude I avoided talking to about Kurosawa specifically because he was a lyric in his ex-band's song.

apparently anytime Steven Page is at a bookstore or around books he prounounces ISBN "issbin" and sings it in the phrasing of the first line of the "One Week" chorus. he will tell this joke repeatedly upon request.

I'm not a very good traveler. Constantly worried that om forgetting something. Went through security alone for the first time. The rest if my party isn't here yet and that's unlike them. They're usually very early for things. 20 minutes till boarding. Pretty dried they left before me too since I had to drive back home because I forgot something
