This is as random as random gets.

Today I found out that Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly is married to the guy who was my best friend in elementary school.

Is this course right for you?

Posted on: Thursday, January 3, 2013

Most people think that astronomy is easy and that the course is mostly about learning constellations, star names and other facts. Since this is an on-line course, students also think that they can learn the material whenever they get to it during the semester. Both of these are misconceptions. This is not a self-paced course and you are responsible for keeping up with assignment due dates and tests, according to the posted schedule. As with most introductory courses, it is fast paced and covers a lot of basic information in one semester. In addition, learning astronomy requires using mathematics. There are problems in each chapter, and most of the lab assignments require calculations using basic algebra to reach the appropriate conclusions and answers. A successful on-line student must be self-motivated and willing to devote at least as much time to study as a face-to-face class student (10 hours/week), in addition to the usual class time (6 hours/week) or a total of at least 16 hours/week.
You need to read the following documents under the Course Information postings: Course Calendar, How to Study for AST120, and Lab Reports... After you have read these documents, you may wish to consider if this is the right course for you. If you decide to continue, please understand that you will be responsible for completing all of the course requirements as indicated in the syllabus, course information and documents posted. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me through e-mail.

I don't see any immediate red flags in that, just reason to be skeptical as things progress.

it was already flagged for removal. Did a Google streetview, that property isn't at that address. That area would be so perfect to live in though. Right around the corner from my previous church.

10 hours for a class that meets six hours a week seems about right, if not a little light.
