It's funny, because both Israelis and Arabs like hummus. But they argue about it. Except during some peace summit, held in W. VA, they were served some hummus, and both the Israelis and the Arabs agreed W. Va. hummus was terrible. This agreement turned out to be a break through in the negotiations.

They could call them Chickpeace, not Chick peas.

Neither Bachmann and Palin are dumb. They're opportunists who prey on the phobias of ignorant people. They're both disgusting human beings.

Palin's a grifter and an opportunist who, were she to become president, would probably just give her relatives jobs and maximize her bling. Bachmann is a true believer who would try to use the presidency to brutalize gays and start new wars.

I do wonder how she got by as a professional--an IRS lawyer no less. Presumably some level of intelligence and self control is required in that gig.

Just got polled for the second time in two election cycles for the local NJ-03 race.

Kid reading the poll was so bad at it.

First school board meeting. I've received 3 phone calls and one facebook message about who I should support for school board President. The actual selection was awkward. I went with the young guy who some don't like because he's a hot head. Just figured the incumbent President was too chummy with the superintendent. And has been doing it for years. We'll see. Other than that, little of substance happened, except the school district apparently owns mineral rights on some land that may have oil. I wonder how many of the other board members are familiar with that Simpsons episode.

You are on a school board now? We need to compare notes.

Yes.

It has to be decided whether they will be accepted after the fact.

It's weird. In the past, it seems that the board mostly just rubber stamped anything the superintendent wanted to do. And the whole thing is designed to minimize community influence--Only 5 board members with staggered 5 year terms, except that following the census, all 5 seats are up for election. So I am one of two new members, and a 3rd member has only been on for a year.

My hope is that the current superintendent retires soon, and we can hire someone really top notch.
