Can we delete this thread and let a real Democrat start a new one?

that dealbook article jeff posted in the last thread doesn't really have anything to do with Mitt or Bain, though.

His firm bought J. G. Wentworth, a financial services firm, in 2005. In 2006, after improving the business by increasing its Ebitda by nearly 300 percent, his firm added debt to the company so it could take out millions of dollars. “The company was firing on every possible cylinder,” he explained. You know where this story is going: “Then the financial crisis hit, so securitizations dried up, the company couldn’t service its debt, the company went bankrupt.”

Mr. Levy’s firm ended up buying the company out of bankruptcy, and now it is doing even better than it was before the crisis.

so the guy featured in the article is responsible for those terrible "IT'S MY MONEY AND I WANT IT NOW" commercials

So how long is this piece of shit going to be allowed to insult me? I would really like to know. I hardly say anything to the guy until I'm attacked... again and again and nothing is done about it.

and this from a guy with an MBA. What a joke. I know lots of people who have their MBA and most of them admit it was easy as pie to get. It's like the MA I have in teaching. Pay the college bill, show up for class, do an internship, and you get your MBA or MA. Simple, desk jockey. If Jeff ever worked an honest day in his life, he would collapse in a pool of sweat.

There's not a person on here who likes Jeff, or they are silent on the issue, and he's allowed to completely attack me for no reason. Why? If there's a reason, I think I deserve to know.

Jeff, if you could actually read, you would see that I didn't even say what you said I said. Mitt was given a big advantage being born the son of a rich senator. That's all I said. I wouldn't even say anything about it if it weren't for the fact that he seems to think he got there based completely on his hard work and that others that haven't succeeded just didn't work hard enough. Have a ever said anything about elder Bush being a rich asshole, even though he came from money? No. I don't because he seems to understand that average people work hard. Mitt does not and therefore he deserves to be called out on it. That doesn't mean he has no talent. It just means that he doesn't give others the benefit of the doubt so I will not give it to him. Now do you understand or do you want me to use even smaller words?

But really, I'd like to know why Jeff hasn't been banned yet. Is he paying you guys or something? Others who were banned added much more to the board and weren't nearly as consistently a prick as him.

Wow, that's an extremely well-executed ad. I still don't understand how people think that these comments don't/won't have a negative impact on Romney's odds of success. They play directly into the theme that Team Obama has been pushing since day one. I showed the ad to a couple of conservative co-workers (who aren't crazy about Romney but who is), and it even made them uncomfortable.

I think I just realized that Jeff actually thinks like Mitt Romney. He thinks that people who do labor type jobs don't work as hard and don't deserve to be treated decently.

Wow, I don't know why I didn't see it before. He always goes back to me waiting tables, even though I've done much more interesting things most of my life (and he knows it). He can't see me as anything but a waiter and he doesn't believe workers should be treated as equals to those who happened to go to school a little longer to get an advanced degree. What a pompous ass.

It also sounds like he has an agenda. Several of his family members work in private equity, so of course he's on here defending possibly the most vacuous profession ever invented (supermodel might be more vacuous, but at least they aren't pasty white guys pushing other people's money and hard work around to make as much as possible for themselves, even if it means putting regular people out of work).

Really, I can't believe I didn't see it. For those of you with blue collar jobs, know that Jeff has complete disdain for what you do and who you are.

I didn't mind him either until he started giving me a hard time years ago because I happened to wait tables. I mean, I guess I deserved it. I had the nerve to wait tables for a living. If he had some other problem with me, he didn't say it. It was always just bashing me for waiting tables. Maybe you would feel differently if he did it to you.

But I think I'm on safe ground saying Jeff is the least liked person on the board. I don't think it's even close.

I dunno. I waited tables for years during college and law school. I had to hustle at times, but rarely was it hard. I mean, I was stoned for most of it and was still a damn good waiter, so how hard could it have been?

re my family:

My brother didn't like private equity and won't be going into it, I feel no need to be defensive about it.

I don't much care for my sister-in-law and my brother-in-law has his moments. I'm highly unlikely to be in their will so short of making sure he's not guillotined in a French revolution type deal because I'd feel bad, I don't feel a vested need to defend them.

As for being a waiter. It's honest work, it sucks taking crap from jerks. But it's not "hard". It's not backbreaking. Working 90-100 hours a week taking all manner of shit from harried/stressed clients and staring at a computer screen till your eyes bleed... much harder.

Hell, take didn'tI, he wasn't allowed to take off for religious services yesterday and works untold hours.

I don't do that, I made the move to get out of the professional services grind. But Mitt Romney is an incredibly smart, incredibly hard working individual.

I hope he loses by 15 points.
