I've been babbling on this board for a couple of years about how much I like Paul Ryan. Why wouldn't I be excited for him to be on the ticket?

because you are under 50, not worth $10 mil and ... well I don't know about the waspy part. Your understanding of funny is often funny

Saw this idea on twitter but Romney with his arm around Ryan saying "every now and then I'm known to make a mistake," could be a funny ad.

well, hopefully people will finally see what Ryan is about. As it is now, I don't think people have any idea. But like I said, I think he does a better job making his case than most anyone else. He's full of shit, but he's good at making it seem like he's not.

so much for thinking he might be a sign that we would have an open conversation about what the two sides want to do with SS and other benefits programs. Looks like he's just going to play the wolf in sheep's clothing. "I want to save SS!!," and the best way to do that is to change it so completely that it's not even SS anymore.

The pick shows 1) how completely we've become a parliamentary system and 2) Romney's comical weakness as a leader. His ego will be, to use a word he likes, "severely" strained by Ryan getting so much more love from the WSJ editorial board and others whose approval he craves.

And I entirely agree with jh that if we get the same electorate in 2012 as you had in 2010, and Barack Obama sits the election out, the Rs will do swell with the Ryan pick.

Seriously, if the Democrats fail to make clear the cruelty, magical thinking and straight-up dishonesty that undergirds Ryan's policies, they'll deserve to lose.

Every election with an incumbent president has an element of referendum and an element of choice. After a year of trying to make it more a referendum, Team Mittens now has emphasized the choice aspect. I imagine the Obamans are pretty much ecstatic about this.

What's with Mitt asking Obama to lay off on the attacks on his business career and his unwillingness to provide his taxes? Didn't Mitt makes his business career the central theme in why he should be elected? And now he doesn't want it to be challenged? And he doesn't want to talk about his taxes anymore. Well, then release them. Before we vote for him, we have a right to know his financial history because we have a right to know where his allegiances lie and if he would act reasonably.

Wow, what a wimp. The guy has super thin skin. Really, this is the big leagues. People are going to ask questions about his past decisions and what those decisions may say about his future decisions. It's like a job interview. What a wimp.

Nothing worse than a bully who is also a wimp. I wonder if Mitt and his friends stopped when the kid cried while they were cutting off his hair in boarding school? Probably not.

Is it me or is the republican party becoming the party of wimps? Boehner can't wipe his ass without dropping a few tears. Mitt can't take the heat from questions about the things he decided he wanted his campaign to be about. Ryan can't come right out and say what he's doing with Medicare, he's got to lie about it and do it secretly. There's just so much weakness at the top of the party.

The right wing has tapped into resentment by claiming that white Christians are a persecuted minority--war on Christmas is the most absurd example of this.

I do wonder if a Mormon/Catholic ticket raises problems with certain parts of the electorate.

why did they announce this on a saturday morning of all times? wouldn't it have made more sense to wait until monday when the olympics are over?
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

It should. Who knows what they'll do.

Don't forget that Mitt is also part Mexican. His family moved down there so they could have multiple wives. He may have a blueprint to bust open the borders and make multiple marriages mandatory.

They do everything in secret, from Mitt's returns to Ryan's plan to end all entitlements. They don't want to talk about anything and they don't even care if you know who's running on their ticket. They just want us to give them the keys to the mansion and leave them alone.
