Most amazing thing is they ran up a $133 bill in a place that uses binder clips to attach the receipts.

i put more than my fair share of time in the industry and here's a tip. pay cash if you want to be a dick. those first 8 digits are easy to remember because that's the bank code, the last four are printed out, so all you have to remember is the four digits in the middle, a three digit security code and the name. i've heard more than a few stories of idiot employees using that info and buying stuff and some less idiotic ones who would just sell the info to someone else.

It wasn't the website for the restaurant itself but a website for some group of restaurants. But they didn't redact the entire address. Just had to look at the street on google maps and see what restaurants were there and match it up with the list of restaurants.

But yeah, why bother redacting anything if you are going to leave some key details that some loser on the internet can spend 5 minutes connecting to find the address.

Why is the receipt in the politics thread - am I missing who the signature is by? because I can't make out the name.

I was gonna ask but didn't want to in case I was missing something obvious. I think pacino just assumes everyone watches Maddow or reads Daily Kos or wherever he found it so the story should be something we already know.

It was some banker who does it because he's in the 1%. Supposedly whoever he was dining with took the picture because he thinks the guy is a dick. Story was on msn or yahoo the other day.

It's funny because he can't even calculate 1% correctly. You round .54 cents up, not down. The tip should be 1.34, not 1.33. Anyone in the 1% would realize that such rounding errors are real money when you're talking millions and billions. I certainly don't want him near any hedge fund I'd invest in.

Geez, we get it already: you're rich.

Mitt Romney went to the races today, and instead of putting his pedal to the metal, seems to have put his foot in his mouth.

Asked by a reporter from the Associated Press about whether or not he follows NASCAR, Romney reportedly responded "Not as closely as some of the most ardent fans," he said, continuing, "But I have some friends who are NASCAR team owners."

You know, it occurs to me that Rock Santorum should hire some new handlers. Because while he was going off the rails this morning trying to explain why John F. Kennedy's first inaugural speech, and in particular its stated wish to see an "absolute" separation of Church and state, makes him want to "vomit," he at no point mentioned the almost certain reason for the reference to that principle in the speech (because really, who talks about the separation of Church and State on inauguration day?), which, had he known his history, he could have invoked to help make him look good instead of crazy. Kennedy was a Catholic, and there was a lot of real fear in the country at the time that Kennedy would just be a tool of the papal see, Dan-Brown-conspiracy style. So his invocation of the separation of church and state was a political move, meant to assuage fears about himself.

Had Santorum known this - and it's clear now that he didn't, not when he originally made the comment, and not when he was interviewed about it this morning - he could have claimed that the speech, and that line in particular, makes him want to "vomit" because it reminds of him of a time when religious and other types of bigotry was so rampant in this country, etc. Etc., etc.

Instead, he said something nutty and borderline incoherent about how important it is not to have a separation of church and state so we can ensure that non-believers have an opportunity to have their ideas heard too.

So the talk is that Romney is going to embrace his richness and tell us to deal with it and realize that we shouldn't hate him for being successful. Does he really think people hate him for being successful? Lots of rich politicians out there, Mitt. We hate you because you said you enjoyed firing people, because you used to work at a job where you dismantled companies and put people out of work, because your tax and other policies all favor the very rich over the middle class, because you made it sound like the 300k+ you got in appearance fees last year was just petty cash and not real money, etc, etc.

Christ, the guy just doesn't get it. It's like McCain not understanding that most people don't have 10 houses and believing that the average worker make over 100k. The plutarchs haven't forgotten what it's like to be poor or struggling because they never have been poor or struggling. They are rich from cradle to grave. And then they whine about class warfare, as if they aren't the ones waging the war.
