Ad of the day number two:

I like this. docsmooth will probably say something hard to understand but a little entertaining about why this ad is stupid.

Where does one start when the person shouting "liar, liar" made their pile fronting for PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING? (apologies to 3count)

It's too laughable. Essentially every word Linda McMahon has uttered in her business lifetime has been a lie.

And you "like this". Now THAT is hard to understand.
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

As far as hail mary spots go I think it has a few things going for it. Blumenthal has high favorability ratings and this attacks his credibility. It's factually accurate, which is important for newspaper coverage and Blumenthal's response. And it is kind of incendiary, which is what you have to do down ten points with a month to go.

I think Squire might've said this, but I don't want myself in the Senate. I want someone who is a lot smarter than me and who has done a lot more with their lives than I have.

What voters really want to see versions of themselves in the Senate?

I imagine you're smarter than a decent portion of the Senate and that's fine. You don't need to be a genius to serve in the Senate, but having accomplished something during your life ought to be a minimum requirement for gaining popular support. Christine O'Donnell didn't go to a top university and law school. You don't need to compare yourself to her.

I'd do what you'd do--it's not about smartness, it's that most of us would go to washington and start trying to figure out how to get lobbyists to pick up our tabs at strip clubs and shit.

I suppose a lot voters would do what I imagine O'Donnell would do if she somehow managed to get elected--try to set things up to secure a nice sinecure when her single term is over.

Also that ad's so terrible even beyond the I'm a witch crap, which will enter political folklore I think as an all time ridiculous line.

Start with the I'm not a witch if you really want a big hook, but then launch into an "elites are talking about ridiculous, out of context personal matters from more than a decade ago to distract you from the real issues at stake in this election. They don't want me in the Senate because I care more about making sure this country is rescued from its disastrous fiscal path than catering to their favorite special interests. They are afraid of someone taking a common sense approach to the failed politics as usual in Washington." Something more aggressive, less wallowing in self pity. Unless your whole goal in running is to become a celebrity and not actually try and win an election.

I hate this victimhood bs that Palin embraces and now O'Donnell is too. "They're being mean to me and I'm you so they're being mean to you. Wahhh. Feel bad for me. Feel insulted. Pity me. Vote for me."

It seems pretty clear that O'Donnell just isn't a well person. Going from teenage occult dabbler to twenty-something anti-masturbation crusader to thirty-something hybrid paranoiac/China takeover conspiracy theorist suggests to me she might be getting worse, if anything.

She's very easy to mock, but probably deserves sympathy more than anything.

Also, the black clothes and black background sort of made her look like a witch too. Minus the pointy hat.

The victimhood thing plays big among Christians, who claim that they're oppressed. It's like that whole "It's ok to say Merry Christmas" shit we're all about to endure again.

This year, if anyone wishes me a goddamn Merry Christmas, I'm gonna tell them to stop spreading their pagan crap, and that my ancestors came to this country to get away from their Satan Claus and other Popish abomination.

O'Donnell may not be a witch, but she was a boozing slut in college. But what really matters is that even thru today she has rather poorly managed her finances and other aspects of her life... the kind of stuff that should send up legitimate warning flags regarding her fitness for office.
