Anyone here have aquariums and/or keep fish? Love fish of all kinds and just upgraded my tank to a 55 gallon. curious to see if there are any other tank owners in here.
None of you have probably ever eaten steak with me or rice and beans with me to understand what the man is about. -pedro

I feel so bad for Vox right now, he's getting the full brunt of parenting without any help, sick kids, taking to the pediatrician (with me forgetting to tell him that the office moved).

Meanwhile, I'm sitting here bored out of my mind. Without a house to clean, laundry to do, shopping to do, etc., I've got nothing. I mean, I'm reading and playing on the interwebs, but I'm bored.

Ya know, I do that toward the end of the day now. Must be we're getting old.

But the really really weird thing to me is that I can be asleep for 60 seconds and start into a dream. I don't think that was always the case for me.....do other people dream in such short sleeps? Should I start a poll???

That is brilliant. I'd be tempted to buy Toyota for that very reason.

Women Who Drink Gain Less Weight

The findings, reported this week in the Archives of Internal Medicine, are based on a study of 19,220 United States women aged 39 or older who, at the start of the study, fell into the “normal weight” category based on their body mass index. Researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston tracked the women’s drinking habits over 13 years. Over the course of the study, 41 percent of the women became overweight or obese. Although alcohol is packed with calories (about 150 in a six-ounce glass of wine), the nondrinkers in the study actually gained more weight over time: nine pounds, on average, compared with an average gain of about three pounds among regular moderate drinkers.

So they didnt track their cheeseburger intake?

The trend toward less weight gain among drinkers doesn’t appear to hold true for men. A 2003 study of British men showed that regular drinkers gained more weight than nondrinkers. Studies suggest that drinking alcohol has different effects on eating habits among men and women. Men typically add alcohol to their daily caloric intake, whereas women are more likely to substitute alcohol for food. In the Archives study, women who drank alcohol reported fewer calories from food sources, particularly carbohydrates.

His monologue was actually decent last night. His joke about this study (Should have been on Jack Daniels instead of Jenny Craig) was mediocre.

Is this literal, or does it have something to do with Jay Leno and drinking for weight loss?

Assuming it's literal, Ft. Worth, while part of the DFW metroplex, is not Dallas. Dallas is Cotton and thus Southern while Ft. Worth is Cattle, and thus Western. They are very different in feel.

People from Dallas hate this, but in recent years, thanks in part to Bass family money, Ft. Worth might be the more cultured of the two cities. In addition, the cultural stuff in Ft. Worth is far more accessible to someone of limited means--several small but top notch art museums are free. Forth Worth is a pleasant looking city, probably pretty inexpensive in terms of housing and such, with a fair amount of greenery.

Summers are hot. Winters mild. Texas economy as a whole substantially better than the rest of the country.

I don't know for sure, but I would think it would be a challenge. DFW has decent public transit though, so it's not completely out of the question.

By the way, Arlington is the pits. One of the worst places I've ever been. They deserve to have Cowboys there.
