Election Day Thread

The McCain people are going to look like geniuses, or like heat stroke delusional freaks (or none of the above cause when McCain loses no one will ask)

I just talked to one of my best Team McCain sources who told me that heading into today all the key battleground polls were moving hard and fast in their direction. The source, hardly a perma-optimist, thinks it will be a long night, but that McCain is going to win. So add this with the new Battleground poll (Obama +1.9 only) and the rising stock market...

No, it's stupid. Do you have any evidence that a single person didn't vote due to their presence?

The "prove a negative" defense isn't going to go anywhere, because you can't prove the opposite either - that is stupid.

I'm not talking about that had haven't once.

Is it, or is it not, indimidating to encounter someone standing in front of an old folks home holding a club?

I'd be pretty intimidated if I saw those guys where I voted and I was voting for Obama.

In other news, I think my polling place put me in a handicapped booth or something. I couldn't even stand up straight, and I'm at most 5'9"

Good thing the liberal media is covering this.

The Republicans are doing nothing the Dems wouldn't do. The Dems filibustered more than any Congress previously when they were in the minority. It's just sort of become acceptable and we will see this from now until something fundamental changes.

The nuclear option was actually the idea of Republicans making it impossible for filibusters to occur on judicial nominees. But yeah, striving for accuracy is not the goal here. Hyperbolic Democratic victimhood is.

In West Chester every polling place is having record turnout. It is going to be over 80 percent at most places around here. That is unheard of. A ton of college kids still voting by the hundreds.

Friend in Denver said he waited 1 1/2 hours this morning at 7am. It is pretty clear that this election is going to blow every other one out of the water.

Sorry, I meant them standing there was stupid, not what you were saying. I think they probably were trying to intimidate people and I think the guy who was legitimately there should have been made to change clothes and come back. I am in no way defending them. In fact, they tick me off.

That said, when your party has been systematically trying to intimidate and keep people from the polls, the complaints just sound a little hollow, if you know what I mean.

my bad. I got the two times confused. The fact remains that the GOP has filibustered anything that's moved, as PhDave's chart demonstrates.

I'm withdrawing from the conversation for the evening. I want to cook dinner and watch the results come in. No reason to live on a personal level all the nonsense taking place on a national level.

Peace.

Just walked in with no lines here in Chester County (Uwchlan). It usually has been that way, although they said there were very long lines this morning and probably will be longer lines right around now until 8. Thankfully got there at about 4:30. Walked in and walked out in less than 5 minutes. Feels good to vote for the first time.

Also, in several states, early voting numbers are through the roof.

LOL at the first exit poll numbers I just saw. I'm sure they'll be on Drudge shortly. All I have to say is they have us losing Minnesota by 20.

And this is a LOL like laughing at Ryan Howard butchering first base, not LOL like I find them amusing.

Do you need to be reminded what the early exit polls were saying in the 2004 election?

The last thing I need right now is optimism or a pep talk. We are going to lose. It is going to be epic.

JH - if it makes you feel better, 538 has only 57 seats going to Dems. How was ESPNZone?

I think I'll kind of miss it when it's over. I was getting pretty used to these elections.

The best part is going to be able to watch TV without those commercials coming on every 10 minutes. Stupid VA becoming a swing state.
