Plus, he hit the ball hard didn't he? That's the idea in baseball. You look for a pitch you can hit hard. If you do that enough, it works out for you in the long run. Unfortunately, the long run doesn't apply as well in a single at bat. But you have to do the things that will work out for you the most times. And hitting the ball hard is what you want to do most of the time I think.

Looked off the bat like he got under it too much. I was surprised it went that far.

Fairly close. Caught a few feet in front of the edge of the track. So, not all that close. He got under it a little.

For whatever reason, I feel a little better about tomorrow than I did.

Don't know about the rest of the league, but his 2-0 OPS is 1.388 and after 2-0 it's 1.441. On 2-1 it's 1.128.

Gwynn JR does one of the most ironic things I've ever seen and ties it in the 9th.

Comment from the announcer:

"And a guy with the last name of Gwynn prevents the Padres from making the playoffs."

How about a guy named TONY GWYNN?!?

Thanks, except I don't see how that answers anything that I was asking.

Sorry. Didn't mean to suggest it did. Thought it was interesting though, in terms of what he does on 2-0 and thereafter.

The pitch from Rausch?
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Why not? The seed of Mr Padre who barely ever went to the playoffs stops the Padres from going to the playoffs.

Irony is when you take an action to prevent something from happening and it happens because of what you do.

I know what happened, but I don't consider it ironic. More strangely coincidental.

If Tony Gwynn taught his son baseball in order to provide the Padres with a player who could get them into the playoffs, then it would be ironic.
