But by all accounts Marynowitz was scouting college players and prepping for the draft and Roseman by his own admission hasn't been paying attention to scouting etc. since being ousted. Not having a director of scouting or a fully staffed scouting department and having those who are here wondering if they will be retained when someone is actually hired are all bad things that could negatively impact the way the birds handle the draft this year.

We have some or all of Marynowitz's intel, no? As far as I know, he's the only person from the large scouting department who is gone, including several regional scouts.

I've also read that Howie did watch college tape all year (the Weasel), but if he's denying that who knows.

they are piecing everything together on the fly, the same plan they've followed since they fired chip. They deal with what's around the corner when they reach that turn. It's unprofessional to say the least

Nah, he clearly has the wheel now. Which really hasn't been the case before, since we went right from Reid (and for all but one year, Banner) to Kelly.

Reports say we can't hire someone at this stage bc they are firmly entrenched in their current draft process and teams won't allow it. You know why? BC we are offering a lateral move! If Lurie & Co had the balls to name someone "GM" then teams can't stop you. It would be a promotion. Give Howie some lofty title and get a GM in here. You can pluck any non-GM you want but sadly, they don't want to give that power away and therefore we miss out on a candidate for the foreseeable future.

Pretty clear that this is a mediocre franchise that was covered up in the reid/Mcnabb glory days.

They could still call it GM and regulate what authority the person has, so i don't see this as indicative of anything

I mean, outside of the 40s when have the Eagles had an extended run of greatness? Fucked sucked most of the 60s and 70s, some good teams in the 80s/early 90s then absolute dogshit until Reid/McNabb.

This has the feel of Castillo to defensive coordinator...not necessarily disastrous on the surface, but a decent chance it will blow up on us. Our draftees will still be professionally vetted, it's not like they'll take someone in the 3rd who would have been undrafted or something. But it's risky, especially since the days after the draft are also crucial in filling out the roster.

The Castillo hire was disastrous on the surface though.
