of course i agree with you too and having a stable and organized front is in every ones best interest, but this could be looked at as quality control. if the personnel brought in turns out to be a bad time, it's better to know sooner than later that Howie is one sour lemon.

Lurie and Roseman are in a symbiotic relationship. If things go badly, Lurie will point to Roseman and use him as the fall guy. If the draft goes sour, Roseman has set himself up with the excuse of not having a scouting/college director at hand to "help" with the selections. Both guys have cop outs for their failure.

The fact is they waited too long. The Bears and Jets had no problems last year cleaning house and having a personnel department in place by the second week of January.
