prologue: it's been a week since my replacement inno arrived; xm has been unable to activate it- it powers on, gets a strong signal, but no channels

xm: just take your radio to any best buy or circuit city and they can test it for you
me: even though i didn't buy it from them? you're sure they won't look at me like i'm crazy? have they done this before?
