What is the Madson rehab plan and should I be concerned?

Top five most similar batters to Jason Heyward through age 24:
1, Lloyd Moseby
2.Barry Bonds
3.Jeff Francoueur
4.Jeff Burroughs
5. Johnny Callison

That's quite the range.

It would pretty much be my #1 move that'd be realistic. My dream #1 would be trading the entire 40-man roster for Mike Trout.

I actually think the Phils will make a splash or two this off-season for 2 reasons:

1) I think people will flip if they see the TV contract $ coming in and they don't spend something

&

2) Diamond club seat contracts (and Hall of Fame I think) expire after 2016. The Phils will then be approaching these big spenders during '16 to re-up for 3 years. The ticket holders are going to want to see some investment on the part of the club before committing to 3 more years. There is a big pressure on the ownership to spur re-investment from these season ticket holders.

Therefore I think they spend.

I am not sure there are guys out there worth spending money on, maybe Heyward but OF actually looks like a strength as far as having young guys available. Doubt they buy premium arms at this point.

At first glance, it seems like there are a lot of quality FA pitchers this offseason. The Phillies are going to have to add at least one veteran this offseason, almost certainly at the second or third-tier level.

I'd say no. Let the young guys compete so we can see what we have. Heyward will get like $200 million from someone and we'd probably have to pay even more. And as for selling tickets I don't think the average fan is going to get all that excited about him.

I think they will make a play for Heyward or Cespedes (who might make more sense in terms of contract length and amount and no draft pick compensation) and Price too (no draft pick compensation as well).

I don't think Heyward gets that. Only 9 players in MLB history have signed contracts like that. He's an elite defender and an above average hitter (career OPS+113)--not the profile that hits the truly insane level. Probably more in the 7/$120M -$130M range (which would still be one of the 40 or 50 biggest contracts in MLB history). And he'll only be 26 in April, so I doubt the defensive value would drop during the contract.

Imagine an OF in 2017 of Nick Williams, Altherr, and Heyward. Use Odubel as a 4th OF/backup IF. Sign me up.

So basically we'd be giving Heyward what the Nats gave Werth, but we'd be doing it when Heyward is in his prime as opposed to Werth at the end of his.

He may want to play for a contender so they will probably go over the top with the offer.

I think he'll get at least 8/160-180 given his age and hype.
