The future is Nola-nger so far away: Phillies thoughts

Id be interested to see how good he is defensively there. If he's average or better, then I think he has to move to 2B.

Howard was ranked the best defensive 1B in the eastern league, so it's hard to know what the texas league was like the year he won

not sure we have enough real depth in cf to chace moving odubel now that his d there seems (stats-wise... do eyes agree?) to improved up towards league average pretty fast.
quinn would maybe have a better o+d profile there if his legs ever get and stay healthy. scouts seems consistently skeptical about altherr long term in cf. tocci's bat still far from ready. and i, for one, don't know enough about williams d to pencil him in for 2017 cf just yet.

altherr and quinn are both better defensively in center.

That's my argument. Put Altherr in CF at least until others challenge him and move Odubel to 2B. I know defensive metrics are questionable but Hernandez rates negative at this point at 2B and seems to be a utility guy at best. I 'd like to see if Herrera can be the 2B fixture for a long time.

I'm going to the game tonight and get to sit in a suite and meet a former Phillies player, thanks to my mom's credit card points. Hoping it's LA.

You'll probably get to meet Greg Dobbs.

Pitching. I was only referring to pitchers as I had quoted the Biddle comment.

So of the starting 8 of the future, Herrera and Franco are the only two that people are now projecting as possible starters with above average careers ahead?

So right now - we may have 2 out of 8 of our future WS lineup on the 40-man?

Altherr and Alfaro. Crawford and Williams will be added soon.

My starting line-up on Opening Day:

C - Cameron Rupp
1B - Tommy Joseph
2B - Cesar Hernandez
SS - Freddy Galvis
3B - Maikel Franco
OF - Aaron Altherr, Odubel Herrera, Darnell Sweeney

Once the season starts, continue to evaluate and bring up top guys from the minors during the season.

Joseph hasn't done anything to warrant being on the roster next year, let alone starting.

Yeah, isn't his biggest accomplishment since returning not getting concussed?

I think we should look at Knapp and Alfaro as the 1B/Catching answer.

Joseph's career as a baseball player is close to being over. He's only 24 so you have to give him another year, but I don't think his bat will ever play at first. It's really sad, I know and heard from lots of people out here in az, how good he was going to be.

Ruf/Howard platoon at first to start the season.

it's the facial hair

they need to continue with the true Ruf/Howard 1B platoon next season. Wait until you figure out which catcher to move to first.

What is the Madson rehab plan and should I be concerned?
