I'd sooner see him just shut it down for the season. Test it again come October and figure out what the hell is wrong if it's still sore and be back for spring training. I don't want one of these stop and start give it ago throughout the offseason. Also I know what he can do, I would rather tank the rest of the season and give those at bats for better evaluation for some of the other young guys.

Former Brave, career shortened by injury, favorite of Harry's (called him "Tee to Greene"), face only a mother could love.

Franco (3B) and Crawford (SS) are the only two I feel confident about. I hope that Alfaro (LF), Williams (RF) and Herrara (2B) become that. Altherr, Hernandez, Sweeney and Rupp are all fine bench players. We need to acquire 1B, CF and C of the future via FA or trade.

we have 5000 catchers at this point; you don't think one of them will be a starter in the majors?

If we spend money on a CF and 1B, Im OK with staying in-house at Catcher (preferably with plus defense). We really need another masher or two in this lineup though.

Disappointed but not surprised that the Phillies' attendance trails Atlanta in a year when both are terrible. Must be the passion that keeps them away (says the guy who's only made it out to one game this year.)

i've made it to one game this year, but about 15 reading phils games. i think that turns into about 5 phillies games. i've watched most of the games on TV, though.

Could hit a little. Had his career year in 1993, like many Phils of that era. Only had one other good season. Was hurt and lousy the rest of the time. He was 14th overall pick in 1985.

Agree we need mashers. We don't have top end talent in hitting nor pitching (or defense). For a real contending team guys like Franco and Nola can't be your best players. Franco is probably like a 5 or 6 hole hitter in a contending lineup. Crawford, if he continues to progress, could be a nice top of the lineup option, as withHerrera. We need that 3 or 4 hole, 20-30 HR hitter badly. Nola is a real good 3 on a contending team. i love his makeup and his pitching intelligence, and really like watching him pitch, I just think his FB is a little short for a top 1 or 2.
