Harrison on the DL with back soreness. Looking into how serious his back troubles were the past few years i wouldn't be surprised if he never pitches an inning for the Phillies
I would rather see you lose than win myself

Is Cesar Hernandez an everyday player in the major leagues?

I'm just curious to know what people here think.

He gets on base. Looks like a pretty good glove man. No power. He looks pretty good to me.

He has a good eye and a fairly live bat and can handle 2B. I don't see why not, assuming you have pop elsewhere

I've never made any secret of being a Cesar fan. We've been spoiled by Utley and he's never going to be another Chase Utley. But if you look at his minor league career (and what he's begun to do now that he's playing regularly) he's a switch hitter who hits for a good average with a very good OBP, has enough power to get doubles and triples, can steal 20-30 bases. Plus he seems to be very savvy situationally. Can't ask for much more than that.

Now that he's playing regularly he seems to be making a really positive difference. I think he set a tone tonight by leading off the game by working the count full and then lining a hit up the middle. He seems to be on base a couple of times a night at the top of the order and I think it's no coincidence that the Phils are scoring more runs now that they've got someone at the top of the order who can work a count and get on base consistently.

Yeah Hernandez's showing this year is really one of the best (semi) unexpected developments. If he gives you 2-3 WAR and Crawford pans out the way you hope that's an excellent double play combo. Continued improvement from Herrera and you're a catcher away from being solid up the middle. Think you prioritize corner OF and C in free agency. Anybody like Wieters on say a 3-year deal?

3 years is probably unrealistic with Boras in charge of negotiations but him and Heyward would be a pretty sweet offseason haul. Maybe McPhail helps as the guy who drafted him? Kinda have the feeling we're going to be big spenders with the front office getting revamped and Middleton's motivation to return to contender status. Price or Cueto would be sweet and the SP class next year is a lot more middling so they'll have some interesting choices what direction they go

Boy, I hope so, Right now he's below average offensively, below average defensively, and is a knucklehead running the bases. OTOH, he's only 23, so he can certainly get better, and he does have a good approach at the plate. Hope he makes the next step, but right now I can't think of him as anything but a stopgap.

I think he's 25. But, give him the ABs, hope he develops, until there's a better solution available.

His OPS+ is 100. Exactly league average and it's been higher since he started playing regularly. For 2B with 250+ PA this year, he ranks 5th in OBP.

The fact the most 2nd basemen suck makes him look good. Fact is, it'll be tough to get better

Well, you can think of that as he's showing his real talent when given a chance to play regularly, or that he he's riding a hot streak and will settle down quite a bit as pitchers make adjustments and his stats normalize. I lean toward the second but hope I'm wrong. Luckily I usually am.

D'oh, I knew, that, but somehow glanced at the debut figure in B-F. But I totally agree with the above.
