A Final Ode to Coal Hummus and other Phillies Thoughts

I may be making this up but I vaguely remember someone (either on here or Twitter) saying that the Phillies have more than $100M to spend in free agency this offseason. Is this true?

Well, our payroll is likely 65 million next year and projected to he just 23 million a year later. We peaked out at 177 million a couple of years ago, so I guess you could assume that we could go wild.

Looks like Harrison will be shelved for the rest of the season. No point in bringing him back

Seems like we should be able get something else in the trade, right? Unless we saw his medicals and knew he was toast.

Now we're going to need another pitcher for our unprecedented pennant run.

Is that first basemen in Reading not a candidate for that list? He's having a really good season.

Stassi is 26 and in AA.

His first name is Brock. That's reason enough to call him up.

Should also try to get some ballplayers named Duke, Clint, Zane, and Butch.

Not sure if serious, but the Phils knew all about his problems - he was a way to swallow a bunch of money and also get a lottery ticket.

And likely will be compensated by an insurance policy if he never pitches again.

I forget where but I read that the insurance a prorated 75% of his salary for any time that he misses.

I'm sure the Phillies are going to continue to try to retain all draft picks for at least another year, so I would expect just bargain basement purchases for the time being.

Amazing stat from @ESPNStatsInfo - #Mets starters: 2,504 pitches at 95+ this year. #Phillies starters 22! None by pitchers now on their team
