A batting title would increase his trade value.
Tulo probably won't have enough PAs to qualify, right? Otherwise Revere's just 7 points behind Puig and Matt Adams. Wow.
The epic season revere is having may be one of the sole reasons to continue to watch and follow the phillies for the remainder of the season. The dude is batting .309 yet his ops is .698. That is so #$!&@ amazing, it should be talked about for years. A highlight video both offensively and defensively of 2014 Ben revere should not only be produced, but in everyone's video library.
Btw... Whitey would've loved him, Hertzog that is.
Has anyone who ever qualified that batted over .300 have less than 20 RBI?
If it weren't for the 1890's he would also have some sort of record for the least amount of extra base hits too.
In my search for this level of awesome ineptitude, I searched the usual suspects, Juan Pierre, Omar Moreno, Vince Coleman and I found in strike shortened 1981 willie Wilson to possess nearly identical awesome ineptitude. And damn did Omar Moreno suck!
However, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that a deal is almost certainly not going to happen. The Phillies, according to Wittenmyer’s sources, have asked the Cubs for one of their prized young shortstops as the centerpiece to a trade. Because both Starlin Castro and Javier Baez are already on the 40-man roster and would therefore be subject to revocable waivers themselves, Addison Russell (and others) is the likely asking price, according to Wittenmye

Last in the league in BB% too. He's really a 1.5/5 tool player.

Normally I would think that one of the guys he is chasing, Matt Adams, was having a remarkable year. For a "batting champion" contender to have only 11 walks and 75 strikeouts must be pretty unusual. but Revere still manages to stand out compared to him.

i went through this all years ago with shore and other's in arguing about polanco before he was traded away just in time to miss out on his years of averaging 3.5+ war with the tigers. with polanco it was contact and defense. with revere it is contact and speed. the former is a better bet to last than the latter, but still it remains wrong to devalue real, measurable skills outside of walks and power.
that, to me, is a more important point of argument than whether or not revere should be on the phils or is good or bad.
