Exactly. Let him be our 2007 sheehan. No one's waiting at his studio apartment every day ready to smash in the windows of his used ford fiesta with a pipe. He wrote some annoying shit and put himself on our radar and now bsg needs this for the stretch run

I do appreciate that levity, but I'm pretty sure none of us will give a shit about any of this once the Phils are in. It's just really annoying to have our buzz killed in the meantime.

i'm still on the fence. it would be easy for me to tell everyone to attack. and i know you'd listen. but it may time to lay down our arms. we can't let an internal war overshadow the accomplishments of the team we (most) love.

He is a perfect example of an attitude towards baseball analysis that I abhor. He happens to write about the team I follow. He is not just some local guy running a blog. He writes for ESPN.com and is interviewed on the radio to provide expert analysis. Obsessively documenting bad/annoying writing on the internet about the Phillies is one of the main things we do on this board. There are probably dozens of threads like this. You just happen to know someone personally who is providing the content.

The response from criticism of his over the top negativity in his awful spring training article was that we didn't understand that he was a gifted storyteller and fans who didn't like the negativity were being elitists by telling everyone else that they should not be negative (when he was the one telling everyone that they should not be optimistic). That made me really irritated. The over the top poor me I love Dom Brown ESPN.com post made it worse. I started paying more attention to what he wrote and saw lots of examples of bad writing, elitism, obsessive over-the-top negativity, etc. Rather than attacking someone personally or calling them names, etc., when I criticize/mock those who write about the Phillies I prefer to use their own words against them. That requires a lot of examples and he keeps providing them.

I just think this Baumann is very funny. Like Dave says, all you have to do is post his own words. It's parody all on its own.

I agree with Dave in that this guy represents much of what I find funny about baseball experts. There is a lot of other stuff like Scouty talk and announcer guys and it's fun to goof around with it.

right now, it just seems this Baumann cat is just trolling and it's not as much fun. but for a while there reading his stuff was way funny. I don't go to the site. I'm not THAT interested. So I appreciate the stuff Dave quotes on here.
