I’m a little bit of a sports video game loser, not because I’m bad at them (I’m not) or because spending as much time as I do playing NHL or FIFA makes you a loser (it does), but because when I buy a new video game, the first thing I do is take my favorite team and rebuild it in such a manner as befits my own beliefs and biases.

It’s always been fun to live in this world of fantasy because things always seem to work out in video games, but playing out the thought exercise hasn’t been as fun with the Phillies of late because, well, over the past five seasons they’ve been one of the best teams in baseball.

So the only possible reason to keep Juan Pierre is to help the team this season. I gave up on the Phillies’ playoff chances months ago, but maybe Ruben Amaro isn’t so easily convinced. Fair enough–he runs the team, so if he wants to be optimistic, that’s his prerogative.
So let’s think about what that says: that someone in the Phillies’ front office believes that the difference between staging the second-greatest comeback in major league history and not staging the second-greatest comeback in major league history is Juan Pierre.
For God’s sake–just get rid of him already.

According to Fangraphs Huan has been worth 6.2million this season, we're paying him 800k.

You would think but he has been whining about how awful Pierre is all year. I guess he wants the Phillies to pick up cheap players in theory but when they actually play for the Phillies then he complains that they are crappy players. It's a built in system for constantly complaining about whomever they bring in as a FA.
