slugs, there you go. More research. I'm not going to bother to study catcher defense because I have other things to do like not get promoted.
Bucky, that's a low blow but so be it. I actually don't sweat losing the direct reports. Managing people is for suckers (believe me if i never do another annual report it will be too soon). The promotion hurts though.

He shook off Ruiz just once, when Marlins pitcher Josh Johnson was at the plate in the third with a 2-2 count. "I called curveball, and he wanted to throw fastball," Ruiz said. Johnson swung and missed on a 91 m.p.h. cutter to end the inning.
- Tales of Roy Halladay's perfect game, by Matt Gelb
Roy Halladay, about the perfect game, said or wrote:"I can't say enough about the job that Ruiz did tonight, really. I felt like he was calling a great game up until the fourth or fifth, and at that point, I just felt like I'd let him take over and go with him. He did a great job. Like I said, it was kind of a no-brainer for me. I'd just go out, see the glove and hit it."

Of course you won't look at catcher defense or the other aspects of catcher value that I've mentioned because it would blow your whole theory out of the water. You actually don't have to study catcher defense and other aspects of catcher value yourself. It's already been done. All you have to do is look at it. You won't have access to all the stuff I have access to. But it wouldn't be hard to find stuff to destroy your theory.
Like my old friend floppy, you start with a conclusion and then try to make the "facts" fit.
It is so much fun dealing with this type of backwards analysis.
Almost as good as the Brandon Wood breakout thread.
GGSA. Lol. OMG.

What the hell are you talking about the stuff you have access to. You're a security guard. I worked for one of the foremost baseball research companies out there. If you're getting into a dick waving contest at least come with something.

So he's a bad pitch framer. Or a good pitch framer. Or neither. Or both.

Just like his offense. It swings from best year to last year. I don't think it's unreasonable to think he can rebound to 2011 levels, but apparently if you don't focus solely on his injury/suspension year you're ignorant. That's how they roll in big corp baseball.

how do they account for bad umps when measuring this?
