And now, the most insane stat I have ever seen: In their last seven games in which Ryan Howard has struck out 4 times, the Phillies are 7-0.

A win today will be the greatest thing since the WFC.

Or at least it will feel that way.

seidman had a good though about him. being aggressive early in the count has enabled him to show his power. now he'll have confidence it's there when he starts working counts again and looking for his pitch.

I'm one of those people who find the harping on walks a little tiresome. Not that I don't like them, but those focused on them seem to approach a shortage of walks like social conservatives do homosexuality-as something wholly by choice and representing a moral failure.

Nevertheless, the fact that Brown has yet to draw a walk in the month of May (86 PA) is puzzling if not troubling. But if he keeps ripping the ball that's fine with me.

I agree with this. Obviously, I'd like him to throw in a few walks because that means he didn't make an out, but I don't feel like he's chasing bad pitches.

Honestly, he is the only thing worth watching on this petrified turd of a team. I'm going to cut him some slack.

I really hope Michael Young doesn't stop walking. If he does, it will be like sewing together the ass-ends of Polanco and Ty Wigginton.

Feel like it's really imperative to sell high on him and soon.

Agreed. When Chase gets back, I really feel like Freddy/Frandsen would produce better. Less dp's and better defense.

edit: And trading him does not signal surrender.

If you can get value for him, sure. I don't see anyone giving us anything of value for a half season of a 36 year old Michael Young. Just dumping him for the sake of dumping him really doesn't make sense since he's off the books next year. Unless we're completely out of it at the trade deadline, then dump him for whatever you can get.

I think that he's hitting like .184 in May. That's not much "high" to sell. Unless he changes his approach at the plate and stops trying to pull the low and away pitch, his career is toast.

It's pretty early in the season to expect a "sell high" move. Unless the Phils lose their next 15 games and a contender loses its third baseman for an extended period of time, no one's moving the pieces you'd need to shift around for such a trade to happen.
no offense but you are everything that's wrong with America

These two, in conjunction, are rather deperessing.

I think that as time goes by this season and the team starts to become more and more out of contention, the Phillies should give each player a gimmick ala pro wrestling and customize their uniforms accordingly.

Ryan Howard as a vampire
Ben Revere as a firefighter
Jimmy Rollins as a "Million Dollar Man" figure, except he'd come to bat with a pimp coat on
Chase Utley as a JYD type, complete with chains and THUMP written on his pants
Charlie Manuel as a stereotypical Japanese guy ala Mr. Fuji
Together we will win this game against the evil Space Yankees! Eat Fresh!

Apparently Cole has taken the mound 60+ consecutive innings without having a lead.
