Kratz! Has hit two homers that led to wins so he's a two win player right?

That's not bad.

Matt Gelb

Phillies trainer says inflammation in Ryan Howard's knee "concerns us".

"The goal is to make him better and be done with it," head athletic trainer Scott Sheridan said. "But I don’t know if that’s going to happen. We’re going to do the treatment that we did and see how he responds to it. And then we’ll have to make decisions from there as to what needs to be done beyond that."

I know it's hard to admit and I get no joy in saying it, but there's no hope for this team for the foreseeable future. Our old and injured players are just going to get older and injured and our young players are mediocre at best. It's going to take years to rebuild a contender out of this mess.

The worst part about it is that we have very little ability to maneuver from bad deals.

I kind of think M. Young should lead off. The rest of the team would be more likely to watch him, and at least once a game there'd be no risk of a DP.

Need to take a balanced approach here. This is what they are. If you're waiting for some stretch where the look awesome for 3 weeks, I think it's unlikely. Win a few, lose a few. Hope you can squeeze 88 wins somehow and a 2nd WC.

That there's so little evident help on the way (Biddle, Franco... Quinn?) actually leads me back to the idea that they may as well try to hang in and hope lightning strikes. So long as nobody else in the division gets hot, who knows.

Then I think about the easy schedule against which they've stumbled out to this lame start, how their Pythagorian record suggests they should be ten under against said weak teams, how they always play shit ball in June, and just how bad the offensive approach is, and I want to see it burned to the ground.

It's very possibly going to be a bad few years. Unless the TV deal is really crazy, they're likely to lose the one advantage they have right now, which is the ability to outspend the rest of the league. Not that it's done much good the last two seasons.

False alarm on the Josh Fields thing. Bad info. Losing to the Marlins 5-1 was bad enough for one night, right?
