Against two potential playoff teams as well. Win at home now.

Brown is a riddle, wrapped in an enigma. . .

Aw, the hell with it. It's kinda pissing me off that he hasn't broken out in a big way this year. I think if he does, a lot of our problems get less problematic. But it's not looking very likely right now.

Another thing about Brown. He's the craziest outfielder I've seen since Lonnie Smith. He really makes nothing look easy. He can run fast so he probably makes a few plays. But I think he doesn't get to a lot of balls because he doesn't have much of an idea of where the thing is headed once it's struck.

He also hasn't stolen a base since 2011. He hasn't been caught either so he's not even trying.

Wasn't Brown given a scholarship to play WR at a major Division I program? I realize catching a football is completely different from catching a baseball but still...thought he would at least have better instincts

I think it was Florida.

I don't think football skill translates all that well to baseball. There have been exceptions of course. Kirk Gibson and Steve Garvey were football stars at Michigan State. But then again, Jake Gibbs and Bubba Starling are good examples of guys who could not translate their skills.

Catching a football has one major difference in that the receiver knows where the ball is supposed to be before it's even thrown. Brown seems to have a big problem recognizing where the ball is headed off the bat.

With all the usual caveats about fielding metrics, Brown's UZR/150 is -20.7. Delmon's is -32.6. Mayberry in RF is -13.8. On the good news front, Revere is +5.4 and Nix is +19.7.

exactly. 4-3 is a great road trip but they need to start doing more than tread water.

In team defensive runs scored the Phils are +2 in LF; +2 in CF and -1 in RF. Overall they are middle of the pack which is their ceiling in nearly every stat you can think of so far.

Young has only played 70 innings in RF but is -5 already in Dewan's system.

but, as JFLY points out, defensive stats are a funny game. Young has looked a bit better than I expected so far. Of course I expected him to play like Greg Luzinski on roller skates so there's that.
