I kinda liked Schierholtz. Nice arm and defense. Decent bat. Not someone to,wring your hands about losing because he got hot for a month with Chicago.

We couldda had Bryan LaHair too probably. He's kicking ass for Fukuoka.

if we had nate schierholz, we might be 18-20.

I agree it was silly to non-tender him, but there is so much more wrong with this team

The great Washington Nationals have walked even less than the Phils.

I think Chooch Ruiz returning to a good hitting walk drawer and Domonic Brown getting good would help them a lot.

Wishful thinking perhaps but I'm far from giving up on this bunch. The Halladay situation really hurts but if they start winning some Hamels starts, we might see some good things ahead.

Of the nearly 50 Phillies teams I have followed over the years, this club isn't even close to being the least likable or whatever. Once favorite prospects Cesar Hernandez, Cameron Rupp and Cam Perkins arrive, I'll like them even more better.

This can't be, smitty. Ruin Tomorrow Jr told me he hates walks and his word is as good as gospel. Well, at least as good as the book of Leviticus.

He actually said walks are unclean and you should sacrifice small animals instead of sacrificing bunts.

Or something.

All we have to do is keep lowering the bar and pretty soon we'll have the best, most walkinest offense in the league.

No we won't. Your point is well taken regarding this club and it's low walk rate guys. Revere. Delmon of course. mike young has always been hacky despite his glorious OBP right now. Kratz! Doesn't walk. Howard should but his pitch recognition sucks. Nixxy is pretty hacky.

They aren't the worst in the league. Maybe middle of the pack. If Brown and Ruiz get going they might do a bit better.

I'm actually getting concerned about the lack power in conjunction with the not great at walking thing.

Anyways, they are doing better than they were a while back in the walk department is all I'm saying.

Good lord, this thread. At the end of the day, it's about Howard, Utley, Rollins, Ruiz, and Brown. I blame Amaro for the void in RF (which Pence didn't end up filling), but even that would look a lot better if Brown developed like most of us expected. Young is a useful hitter still, the bench pretty strong.

Now, if he starts replacing core players with Delmon Young types, I'll goth out

do you spend time off the board trying to figure out ways to instigate/manufacture arguments because if not you're remarkably efficient at it.

sorry i had the audacity to post in this thread.

Just flew back into Philly after seeing three games in Phoenix..

I was shocked, but there was a HUGE amount of Phillies fans there..

Arizona fans were very classy as well..
