no, but we'd need to throw in another regular to stay under the tax, if we did get upton, we'd only be able to afford 7 million of it, unless we somehow get AZ to kick cash in

hes a righthanded power hitting right fielder. right handed power is rare. he was 4th in the mvp voting in 2011 at age 23. his AAV is 12.83M for the next 3 years. you aren't signing a player with his current ability and future upside for 3/38 on the open market. when looking at his road stats, are you considering that the road parks in his division, where he plays the most road games, includes petco, att and dodger stadium, three radical pitchers parks? the only hitter friendly road park is coors.
upton is 1 week older than bumonic clown. so if upton has question marks, that makes brown a complete zero

He may never make that much.

I understand -- there are two really good seasons averaged into those 4. However, his 2012 pretty much sucked for a corner OF. Which is the real Upton. You can say thumb accounts for much of 2012, but then what about 2010? The 4 year average looks a heck of a lot better than the three year average or last year. You could have done the same with Ryan Howard a few years back. His decline was real. Upton is younger, certainly. The team with the best read on him wants him gone. That says something to me. That's a big reason I didn't want Young. Texas very obviously didn't want him and was on a multi-year quest to unload him.

In the last 3 years, he's hit .300 at CBP, .297 at Citi Field, and .406 at Turner. That's leaving out his great 2009 season. I'm not worried about his road splits.
I don't get, however, why people keep mentioning trading Brown to AZ, since the Dbags are trading an OF because they have too many. Brown would have to go elsewhere in a deal if you unload him.
