Then bat him seventh where he can steal more freely.

It's probably insignificant but maybe that would give the 8 hole hitter more IBB thus turning the lineup over more? I don't know. Just thinking out loud.

I guess the question is whether batting eighth is a good developmental experience for young hitters at the big league level. Maybe I'm wrong, but I do feel like Chooch figured something out all those years at the bottom of the order (though admittedly it was a pretty great lineup from 2007-10).

Revere was a steady .300 hitter in the minors who hasn't been all that much worse in his first couple big league seasons. If he's the worst bat in the lineup, I agree that probably bodes well.

Revere may very well not be the worst bat in the lineup. His offensive WAR last year was exceeded by only Chooch, Rollins and Utley. His OPS may be less than others, but his OBP will be valuable in a lineup that's OBP-challenged which is, of course, the chief argument (along with speed) for batting him at the top of the lineup. If you bat him 8th, you're minimizing his two offensive strengths. If last year is any indication, they're better off batting Brown 8th since he brings nothing special to the lineup in terms of power, speed or OBP.

Don't bat him after anyone that will clog the bases!

Bat him 1 or 2. He needs to learn how to hit at the top of the order.

does this revive the lee-for-upton rumor?
did we ever hold a vote on whether or not folks here would do that?
gotta admit, that one is alot easier to imagine that managing to get upton by trading you-know-who.

Wow, I forgot how expensive Upton is (relative to age). 10 mil this year, 15 mil each of the next two.
