I saw this on TV. It was kinda weird. Ask it once and move in.

do we even know if he's interested in major league coaching? is he a good coach?

while i agree that the plan clearly was to rely heavily upon pitching, i disagree that there was no way to improve the team. choices were limited, and one would need to be a decent gm to find the right ones, but if amaro had gone after a cheap platoon option instead of pence in 2011, he would have had the payroll to sign willingham and the prospects to get headley last offseason (especially if he had gambled on trading high with worley). that´s a heck of a lot of 2012 and 2013 offensive opportunity cost hidden in the pence trade.

hindsight is 20/20 of course, and i too got suckered into thinking that pence was a decent get for both the short and long term. but the disintegration of polanco, the buy-high nature of the pence deal, and the fact that willingham and headley would likely be undervalued going into that offseason were all knowable for someone paid to look a lot more closely at the market than i do.

he didn´t look nearly as attactive last offseason as this offseason.

He reiterated that his goal is to be a major league manager, whether it's here or somewhere else. As for coaching, five of his six teams finished over .500, and 2010 Iowa and 2011 LV finished over .550

I'd like to see the Phillies sign Lidge to a one-day contract so he can retire a Phillies. A pre-game ceremony this season would be nice as well.

The BS reason is that AZ/Fla. are hot and they need better technology to cope, but the real reason is money money money money
