Phils tied for ninth in Bovada's World Series odds at 16/1. (Toronto the favorites at 15/2.)

Only the Dodgers, Nats, and Reds ahead of us from NL

He would probably be a good 3B coach. Easy to spot after rounding 2nd.

Meh - I doubt he'd ever figure out how to give a "take sign".

Abreu was the first guy I thought of. I don't know though. Ibanez might be better at this point. He's real clutch.

Im perfectly fine with fourth. Just get to the playoffs and take your chances. This team is built for the playoffs with Halladay, Hamels, Lee, Adams and Papelbon.

I think 4th is pretty good at this point given where we ended last year. Shows they still have respect after not making the playoffs and barely avoiding a losing season. Previous year's record is always going to be the main factor. The Dodgers are an exception given how much they have spent since the all start break last year. The Reds and Nats won their divisions easily last year so they get the benefit of the doubt (just like the Phillies got previously). The Phillies are ahead of two playoff teams from last year and the world series winner and haven't made any really huge signings or trades.

Smuggles on the MLBN via the tellyphone.

Phils needed to make a lot of moves this off season rather than one big move. Wanted to stay flexible. Might go with OF of Brown/Mayberry and Nix/Ruf and might not. Very enlightening.

Showing some highlights from his playing days. Very thin hands. Plus plus smug.

Amaro was asked specifically whether he'd be reluctant to forfeit a first-round pick for a guy such as Swisher.

"If we think it's the right guy to sign, we'll sign him," Amaro said. "I mean, a lot of it depends. First-round picks are important, but, at the same time, if we feel like short term, long term we should go that route . . . we're still trying to figure it out."

Thanks for clearing that up, Rube.

In many ways, this is an offseason that Pat Gillick would be proud of. Some refuse to give Amaro credit but I will.

He's done a good job in an offseason with so few impact players and so many ridiculous contracts given to mediocre players.
