Also the Rockies in 2007, which they almost rode to a title. And we're closer than the Cardinals were last year on August 25th. Pirates aren't winning no 89. Just need the Cards to slump.

That freaking 1-9 stretch into the ASB is what made this so daunting.

fwiw, our september schedule is real assy, especially if the Nats have the division locked up

lot of games with the tough reds, but we usually find a way to pull the rug from under them

BTW, I'd forgotten until just now how much Oswalt crapped the bed in G2. Yet the Phils still ran off 7 unanswered runs starting in the bottom of the 5th to crush their hopes and dreams.

He quickly gave back 2-0 leads in 2010 NLCS 6 and 2011 NLDS 4, as well. Not that 2-0 is insurmountable, of course, but a gem in either of those games would have been real nice. I feel like Victorino dropped catchable deep-CF balls in both of those games.

Rollins explained both plays.

On the sixth-inning groundout, he said, "I was just upset before I even got up there. I was already out of it. Mentally just upset."

He wouldn't elaborate on what happened before the at-bat.

"It's nothing to be talked about," he said. "It's not an excuse."
